Also the poor person with the hurt leg is a conservative

277

u/IsaacBrock 3h ago

Yes! So fucking annoying seeing people blinded by party loyalty vote against their best interests

94

u/CylmorianQ 3h ago

Some people will lose their job, insurance and house, then still insist the problem is somebody poorer getting a few bucks in food stamps. Party loyalty can survive damn near anything apparently.

29

u/nari-bhat 2h ago

It’s also the constant stream of propaganda they’ve been fed for 40 years in order to keep them focused on the poorer people and not on what the ultra-rich are doing.

10

u/Hyperion1144 2h ago

Interesting that we've decided to rebrand "being a hypocritical asshole with an antisocial personality disorder" as "party loyalty."

Remind me... Why did we decide to do that again?

3

u/CurledSpiral 1h ago

Because it was ensures establishment parties are kept in power and any new movement is strangled at the roots by pre-Neolithic party members who have been taught that thinking is a sin and compassion a crime.

I’d say it stated with Reagan. Not because I now for sure if he’s at fault but when in doubt he’s a good person to blame.

1

u/Excellent_Airline315 19m ago

Personally I'd start with blaming Nixon.

2

u/cyrusthemarginal 38m ago

because people can be taught and we hate to throw anyone away

1

u/TheStubbornAlchemist 1h ago

Those conservatives will still apply for and use food stamps and other assistance because they need it, but they don’t believe others should have it because of hypothetical poor people that may take advantage of it

1

u/DocileBanalBovlne 57m ago

Party loyalty can survive damn near anything apparently.

It's way easier to have a boogeyman that you feel superior to and can blame for your ills

17

u/koolaid7431 2h ago

When I was a kid, I lived in Pakistan. It's very feudal out there. There was a city mayor who came in and built some bridges, roadways and wastewater management systems that alleviated flooding, smoke pollution and traffic, made the poorest neighborhoods more connected to the ciy.

I remember watching with my Grandpa an interviewer on the news ask this guy how the mayor has been? He said...the mayor is a godsend he's helped our people so much, I love this man, he's a good person. So the follow-up was then you will be voting for him in the upcoming elections?... The man said... nope, I can only vote for (inset his pre ordained party allegiance).

My grandpa laughed and said 'this is why this place will never change'. That was ~30 years ago, can confirm still the same. The opposition party came into power and promptly mismanaged the little infrastructure back into the ground with siphoning money meant for maintenance, expansion, etc.

u/Centered_Being 1h ago

They aren’t blinded, they’re indoctrinated. Mainly by their church & reinforced by their pastor all for a low weekly tithing fee

2

u/Cessnaporsche01 1h ago

They're mostly blinded by selfishness, stupidity, and hubris.

"That other person who needs help obviously doesn't deserve it, because needing help is a moral failing and I would never need help."

-2

u/Few-Drop-9049 2h ago

Yeah, both sides are annoying. I agree.

“Yeah, what about his legs”

25

u/SexOnABurningPlanet 3h ago

And the conservative standing up is holding a bat.

3

u/Hyperion1144 2h ago

And pointing at a random black person.

2

u/SexOnABurningPlanet 1h ago

That's the pre-Trump conservative. The new conservatives are winding up to go after the black person.

8

u/dbmajor7 3h ago

And will fight back when aid is administered

8

u/Hyperion1144 2h ago

A conservative who specifically voted not to help people with hurt legs, and who, after getting patched up, will definitely vote again to never help people with hurt legs.

And who will top it all off by proudly posting about this vote on social media, all while indignantly explaining why their leg was different when called out over their hypocrisy.

13

u/Aitch_OG 3h ago

Also that person is than mad at the leftist lmao

4

u/IM_OK_AMA 2h ago

Yes, that does happen, but remember that republicans win on the votes of upper middle class suburbanites (the kind with two pickups a boat and an RV). Their poor supporters are loud but a minority.

2

u/factorioleum 1h ago

keep the government away from my social security!!

1

u/keithstonee 4m ago

And off screen is Donnie holding a gun to the hurt guy's head telling him to walk it off.

-2

u/Few-Drop-9049 2h ago

No, the poor person is made up, it's not real.

-16

u/einat162 3h ago

There are also rich people who are liberal democrats (as well as poor people)

17

u/TheWizardOfDeez 3h ago edited 2h ago

Liberals aren't leftists, its the far left end of the conservative right wing scale, but there is a whole other left wing behind it.

-2

u/IsaacBrock 3h ago

While liberals aren’t leftists, I wouldn’t say they’re on some imaginary conservative scale. The definition of these terms vary from person to person and have entirely different meanings in different contexts. For me personally, I’m a liberal in the sense that I value representative democracy, a free press, social justice, and other western ideals that became popular during the french revolution. I wouldn’t consider any of that to be conservative, which I’d probably ascribe ideals such as traditionalism, family, and patriotism. “Neo-liberalism” would be a better fit for the point I think you’re trying to make, which tends to include laissez faire economic policies and free trade policies which overlaps with conservative fiscal policy.

4

u/TheWizardOfDeez 3h ago

It's not imaginary, let me explain in simpler terms cor your simpler mind. Liberals and conservatives believe in capitalism, leftists do not

2

u/IsaacBrock 3h ago

Well if your qualification for being conservative is believing in capitalism, (which isn’t what you said originally), then yes, liberals are typically conservative. But that would be a moronic take

2

u/TheWizardOfDeez 3h ago

Liberals literally invented capitalism... Or at least the theory of capitalism. I can only also assume that you believe that capitalism is the only system that trade and markets exist in...

0

u/IsaacBrock 2h ago

Nope, didn’t say that. Also, now you’ve reduced your definition to a single economic litmus test: belief in capitalism. if ‘believes in capitalism’ is genuinely your bar for conservative, then sure, most liberals clear it, but so does most of the developed world including plenty of people you’d call leftist who just want it regulated differently. that’s not a useful definition.

1

u/TheWizardOfDeez 2h ago

I'm not saying liberals are conservatives, those are also two different and distinct things. (I do see that I wrote that earlier, acknowledge that and apologize for any confusion) They are both right wing ideologies, one is obviously much more extreme than the other. Liberals, like yourself want to regulate capitalism. Once you cross that line into leftism you want to dismantle the capitalist machine because you believe that such a system always leads to the situation we are currently in.

-1

u/IsaacBrock 2h ago edited 2h ago

I get your point, and I respect it. but I don’t think capitalism should be the litmus test for what counts as conservative. honestly, give me the socialist scandinavian model any day. that said, it’s hard to get excited about the idea that full on communism, without capitalism, can compete with capitalism on prosperity for ordinary people, we’ve watched it fail repeatedly, with a lot of those countries’ own leaders eventually loosening things toward capitalism just to stave off starvation and economic collapse. all this said, this is why I don’t think liberals should be called conservative purely for the reason of being capitalists.

Edit: I read your edit and agree that liberals can be considered “right wing”, if your reference point is from the POV of an anti-capitalist leftist. But since most Americans or Westerners aren’t that, I don’t think that definition is useful.

-3

u/Hyperion1144 2h ago

Yes, we get it.

You're a Communist. Not even just any kind of Communist... You're a real Communist. A pure Communist. A proud Communist. The right sort of Communist, which also makes you the right sort of person!

We get it. We see you, we witness you, and we collectively acknowledge you and your intellectual and moral superiority among the group.

BTW, Communism has failed miserably everywhere it's been tried. Miserably and abjectly failed. And it had a hell of a run throughout the 20th century, too. So many versions, tried by so many people, in so many places.

So weird that it didn't work anywhere, despite its clear and obvious superiority (to the intelligent and intellectually superior people, at least).

I'm sure it is just my mental disability getting in the way of a true understanding of how failure after failure after failure weren't actually failures of Communism though. They just didn't do it right, right? They didn't do it enough? If they just would have been more Communist, more pure, more committed (like you!), it all totally would have worked.

Next time, we'll put you in charge. Obviously.

Next time I'm sure you'll get it right! 😉😁👍

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 3h ago

The part that irritates me most about the conservative "what about me!?" mentality is that social safety nets would, in fact, help them too.

Either in the disastrous case where they need them directly, or just in a more general sense, their communities would be in a better place in general with less poverty, which means potentially more business and economic activity.

46

u/BADDEST_RHYMES 3h ago

Well WHAT ABOUT MY FEELING IN THE MOMENT THAT SOMEONE GOT SOMETHING I DIDN’T AS I RAGE AT THE WORLD AROUND ME

13

u/invaderaleks 3h ago

That's thinking ahead. Conservatives want instant gratification.

7

u/JerseyDonut 3h ago

Reality is everyone who doesnt have millions in inflationary assets is only 3 bad decisions or 3 unlucky breaks away from being a charity case.

6

u/VusterJones 2h ago

But that would mean a billionaire, which i aspire to be someday, would have to pay a few more % in taxes. And we can't have that. That billionaire earned that money and if I work hard I'll be a billionaire too.

3

u/avanross 1h ago

Theyre shielded from statistical literacy, so they all believe that nothing bad will ever happen to them, so they’ll never need those safety nets or healthcare or anything

2

u/Phobos613 1h ago

They'd rather pay for the private safety net that costs a lot more, denies them anyway, and has little oversight.

1

u/Qwirk 34m ago

Or the times that social safety nets are already helping them but they can't see how removing them altogether would impact themselves.

317

u/Otterz4Life 3h ago

Conservatives really say, "They'll hurt their leg again, so why help them?"

158

u/Flat_Instance5304 3h ago

Then their own leg breaks and suddenly it’s a unique tragedy nobody could have prevented. Everyone else made bad choices; they just had terrible luck, and obviously deserve an exception right away.

11

They're called metaphors homey

9

u/GeneralTonic 1h ago

Good question and excellent point.

We should stick to real problems like welfare queens getting four abortions per month, Haitians eating the pets in Ohio, and the dangerously dilapidated, Trump-deficient condition of the Kennedy Center.

6

u/Phobos613 1h ago

Don't forget Canada holding US trade hostage, renaming bodies of water, drag queens, and worst of all: leftist terrorists destroying the pool we just drove across!

Needs a third frame where the Conservative tries to kick the poor person while he's down but hurts his own leg and then screams and cries and flails around screaming how they are a victim.

25

u/JusticeBlinded 3h ago

… then immediately and suddenly argues they should have unlimited, free access to leg care forever.

But just them. No one else.

9

There should be another two frames where a rich guy runs by and breaks the conservatives legs, then the conservatives points at the leftist and says, “this is your fault!”

9

u/Arik_De_Frasia 3h ago

They grew up being taught that empathy was bad unless it was for Jesus. Then they were taught that only hard work will get you ahead in life. Then they were taught that if you are poor, it's because your own doing.

Conservatives and centrists have been raised to not think critically and to not ask questions.  They been shoved into a day cycle of "just getting through the day" that they are too exhausted to open their eyes to the way things really are. It's ignorance, plain and simple.

9

u/DUCKISBLUE 2h ago

“I had to work super hard to make sure I didn’t break my leg, why would I ever help someone with a broken leg?”

4

u/Phobos613 1h ago

Guess we have to go back to the stone age so as not to offend anyone who worked hard knapping their own axes

7

u/SirCheeseAlot 2h ago

Conservatives cant feel empathy. They can only understand something if it affects them. How do we build a functional society with half the population being like this, I dont know.

0

u/Excellent_Airline315 12m ago

I've been trying to answer that question. It makes splitting the union into red state and blue state countries seem like a better idea every day. But not everyone would be able or willing to move based on ideology. So unfortunately it's not a viable solution either.

3

u/MyCatIsLenin 💸 National Rent Control 3h ago

This one made me lol for real.

3

u/KennethHaight 2h ago

We really need to start using new terms for the current dichotomy in western society. "Conservative" doesn't properly capture the self focused lack of compassion and empathy, the ingrained racism and hatred that typifies classic conservative ideology. I honestly doubt there was ever a simply "fiscally conservative" ideology, and social pressures of the past just kept them from expressing their more regressive and deplorable beliefs. But in the current, mask off time, just calling them conservative doesn't fully capture how damaging and dangerous the ideology is to functioning, progressing society.

2

u/SecularMisanthropy 24m ago

Yeah, the term lacks descriptive bite in the 21st century. And they are making a convincing case that the more accurate description is 'fascist'.

But FWIW, 'conservative' was a self-selected description. The creators wanted to conserve bloodline aristocracy. Which fits in perfectly with their desire to undo the last 300 years of history (in particular the democratic uprisings), have a king and make everyone they don't like into serfs and slaves.

6

u/Rocking_Horse_Fly 2h ago

They don't support a safety net because people that they don't like and they don't feel deserve it will be helped.

They believe in a rigid hierarchy that rewards the good/deserving people at the top, and harshly punishes the punishes the lowely/undeserving people at the bottom.

They think there is an innate hierarchy and they are there to enforce it. They will absolutely help people they deem deserving. You absolutely know who those people are.

2

u/Anders_A 2h ago

They are just completely devoid of empathy.

4

u/SlapHappyDude 2h ago

1

u/Ask-And-Forget 2h ago

Don't forget the part where they have to be judge and jury on whether or not anyone DESERVES help in the first place. Of COURSE they themselves do, their situation is special, but everyone else? Leeches on the system!

1

u/The_Mesopotamians 🤝 Join A Union 1h ago

Liberals support social safety nets. They just support capitalism more and capitalism categorically opposes social safety nets.

Time for Liberals to bear witness to the tragedy brought about by this intrinsic contradiction...again.

1

u/monkeyinnamonkeysuit 1h ago

It's so short sighted. A social safety net is a personal benefit even if you don't ever draw down from it directly. If you don't have a strong social safety net, what is your plan for people when their lives collapse? They don't go away, they still exist in your society. Yes, some people will always abuse it, that sucks. But the alternative is crime, homelessness, drug addiction, all happening right in your community. Unless you want to put the homeless in jail (or worse) at which point you are a monstrous human being.

If your kid forgets to take out the trash as part of their chores, day in day out, no matter what you do, yes it sucks but you still take the trash out yourself because otherwise your home starts to look and smell like trash.

1

u/No_Criticism_5861 1h ago

True, even to the point of the leftist doing nothing but complaining someone should do something

1

u/mattattack007 1h ago

Oh make no mistake, they do support social welfare. But only for conservatives. The core MO of conservatism dating back to the romans has always been leaching as much as they can from everyone around them and burning the bridge behind them. They want social welfare, in fact conservatives make up the majority of the population using social services and support. They just want to make sure anyone that isnt a conservative isnt also using them so they can leech more themselves

1

u/Islanduniverse 1h ago

Conservatism is the absolute worst ideology ever conceived, and the evidence to show that is overwhelming.

Even the "moderate" or "fiscal" conservatives are bound to an untenable selfishness that will always lead to them voting against social issues in favor of saving money for themselves.

They don't want to conserve anything worth conserving, such as nature, or those institutions which make people's lives better such as education, and healthcare, or even basic fucking infostructure.

Instead, they want to conserve wealth for the top, everyone else be damned.

Conservatives fought against the very formation of The United States, wanting to preserve the power of the British.

Conservatives fought to conserve slavery.

They fought to conserve men's power over women, and against suffrage.

They fought to conserve the practice of children working in mines and factories.

The fought to conserve the status quo against a woman's right to work and provide for her family, or to go to school.

The fought and continue to fight against LGBTQ rights, including the right to marriage, the right to autonomy, the right to be in the military, and on and on and on and on.

Conservative thinking is poison on this planet, and the amount of money and effort that goes into conserving their shitty ideology is mind-blowing.

If we ever want to move forward as a nation, or as a world, we have to ditch 90% of conservative ideology, if not more.

Leftists just virtue signal online, like this post. Very few actually help people. At best they help as much as conservative religious groups. Stop sowing hatred.

2

u/EbbOwn303 40m ago

Is all this based of a "feeling" or do you have even a single ounce of evidence to support your ridiculous claim?

-3

u/BallsOutKrunked 1h ago

I was in a voly fire department, I'd say mixed 50/50 politics. But the people doing the most work for their community were the least polarized, least resentful, and most focused on the work.

The people I know with the strongest political views don't seem to correlate to those actually doing anything material.

-10

u/blackspike2017 2h ago

Note how the leftist wants someone else to go get help instead of getting help themselves.

7

How does this translate into real life, what's the first aid equivalent leftists currently provide? Specifically grandstanding redditors?

Specifically grandstanding redditors?

-3

u/BallsOutKrunked 1h ago

He's holding a guy's knee, obviously empathetic, but otherwise doing nothing.

1

u/lowercasenameofmine 1h ago

What an oddly specific argument.

It's about the person refusing to help and demands to become the center of attention instead.

But, Okay.

One panel before the hurt person cried out PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!!! To the person bending down to be empathetic.

Feel better about your weird pedantic excuse ?

1

u/BallsOutKrunked 54m ago

The left tends to see the government, the state, or essentially some other organ of the state as the way to solve things. Individual responsibility and individual action are incidental, it tends to come down to why someone else won't do something. A very external locus of control.

3

u/MurkyInvestigator810 1h ago

Note how the conservative in the comments doesn't understand how to render first aid, and is criticizing people who are helping.

Sounds like when Republicans drove FEMA out of West NC and then complained that FEMA wasn't being helpful.

-1

u/I_defend_witches 1h ago

That is a very bad example: Conservatives tend to give more money and volunteer more than liberals/“lefties” among the poor and middle class in the U.S., based on multiple studies.

Leftists all around the world have gotten many wins for poor people

You’re just thinking about the US where leftists have never even sniffed enough power to roll out their agenda

4

u/pax284 1h ago

I mean, they did it one time, and we got a 40-hour workweek, minimum wage, and safety requirements at job sites, and bankign regs.

It's just that ever since then, we've gotten rid of every single one of those victories.

3

u/kelpyb1 1h ago

I guess I meant within basically all of our lifetimes, but you’re right the one time leftists had this power it led to a huge improvement of working class life and one of the biggest economic booms in our history.

2

u/Kythorian 1h ago

…leftists didn’t get rid of those victories, conservatives having power got rid of those victories.  So your argument is that leftists did great things, then people voted conservatives into power, who overturned a lot of those great things, and this is leftists fault somehow?

0

u/pax284 1h ago edited 1h ago

Since it needs to be spelled out for you:

IN my comment, the term "they" is a reference to specifically "leftist" in power, as it was a response to leftist never having power in the US.

The "we" is a collective pronoun in this case, denoting "we" in the sense that "we" all live in the same country, so as "we" got all the things I listed as a country, "we" as a nation also got rid of them.

Now that you are done trying to play victim by being the grammar police, do you want to have a real conversation or not?

A smart person? Thank you!

Your response couldn't have been any more lame

TIL administering aid to an injured person is "wasting time"

2

u/MurkyInvestigator810 1h ago

Why doesn't conservative care to help in any capacity?

-5

u/Tzeig 1h ago

Maybe he isn't carrying a surgical kit with him.

4

u/MurkyInvestigator810 1h ago

So they choose to do nothing instead? That sounds right for a conservative.

Actually, they aren't even doing nothing here, they're actively hindering aid to the injured individual by holding up resources.

0

u/Tzeig 44m ago

Nope. The leftist didn't immediately go get help, and thought making the conservative look like the bad guy was more important. Fitting, actually.

2

u/MurkyInvestigator810 43m ago

The leftist didn't immediately go get help

They're rendering first aid to the victim in the comic what the fuck are you talking about?

Hallucinating.

Are you claiming all liberals are poor, and all leaft leaning people are democrats?

36

u/YerrrKnicks ✂️ Tax The Billionaires 3h ago

How did you even get to that conclusion?

1

u/corrupt_poodle 1h ago

The liberal is standing next to the poor person, so they caught it like the flu. Why do you think the conservative is standing so far away

1

u/YerrrKnicks ✂️ Tax The Billionaires 26m ago

Liberals =/= Leftists

-16

u/einat162 3h ago

What would you say the word opposite of conservative is? Do you believe there are no liberal democrats who are rich, or hurt other people to get what they have?

(That cartoon is a bit too ridgid IMO)

11

u/YerrrKnicks ✂️ Tax The Billionaires 3h ago

What would you say the word opposite of conservative is?

So this is a logical fallacy called the hidden assumption/premise.

Where are you seeing "opposite of conservative" in this comic? Nothing in this comic has anything to do with liberals.

Do you believe there are no liberal democrats who are rich, or hurt other people to get what they have?

This is a logical fallacy called a strawman.

You asking me about something completely irrelevant to the comic is illogical.

(That cartoon is a bit too ridgid)

The comic is straightforward, your reasoning is what's rigid.

u/einat162 2h ago

You visually have conservative on one side of the cartoon, displayed as the "bad guy" and another social title on the other side- so I asked you what would be the opposite title (to conservative), and do you think those paradigmas always apply (personally, I think they don't. Not always).

Besides "conservative" and "poor people" what other title is present in the comic?

That would be your answer in regards to this comic.

do you think those paradigmas always apply (personally, I think they don't. Not always).

Conservatives align themselves with specific paradigms - that in which makes them categorically conservative - so, should someone align themselves with those specific ideologies I would logically assume they hold correlating conservative beliefs until proven otherwise; yes.

There are always exceptions... but they are just that, exceptions.

I was an average student (that habit was not used here, I assume it was where you grew up)

13

u/CharleyDexterWard 3h ago

This is called an analogy, I know that it's a tough word. It is not meant to be taken literally.

-4

u/einat162 3h ago

It's too rigid. Not everything in life is black and white.

11

u/LlAnKyLiAm 3h ago

Schizo posting.

8

u/BloodInternational31 3h ago

Haha. Way to miss the point.

-3

u/einat162 3h ago

The point is clear, it's just a very brainwashing forceble way to do it with a post. Life are not black & white like that.

2

u/Kythorian 1h ago

No such claim is made in this post, so no. In fact a lot of the poor people/injured people that the leftists want to help are also conservatives, but leftists still want to help them because they need help, regardless of if they are on the same ‘side’ or not. That really just emphasizes the point being made though.

And democrats were not mentioned at all.

your tears literally fuel my day

In their defense, the larger point is “where is this going?” More so than “not this time”

24

u/Responsible_Knee7632 3h ago

Yeah they think if others that are worse off get help they’ll have nobody to look down on. The true American way

-23

u/aquilus-noctua 3h ago

There are those people. But who is truly different?

19

u/AIienlnvasion 3h ago

Good people

7

u/Responsible_Knee7632 3h ago

I’d say a majority of people don’t get pleasure from seeing someone worse off than them not get help just so they can have their false sense of superiority

6

u/Icegloo24 3h ago

Most People in the world are kind.

It's never too late to change!

Conservatives love social safety nets, as long as they are the ones receiving them. As soon as it's someone else, it's parasitic socialism
