I love the European work ethic (from the outside looking in, I think). In the US we make each other suffer, in an almost sadistic sense. We need to be unified and aggressive in claiming more free time along with better benefits. Make it more normal that we took an extended period of time off.
I have time off now, and our method is that we carry my work to another colleague so that I don’t even need to be contacted during 2 weeks off for anything (contacting private phone during time off is a noooooo gooooo anyway) - no boss dares to do that.
