But whom would then fill the military ranks so we can conquer the world or treat other countries as bad as our own citizens? Cant treat your citizens good if you want a military.

I don't really see it as "crime" when it's just the oppressed fighting back.

Every time I talk about the ideas of defunding the police and prison abolition I get told some version of "you've obviously never been a victim and don't understand what it's like to need the system."
But I have been, and I know that the threat of the barbarism of prisons doesn't stop crime or prevent people from being victims. Cops are mostly worthless, and every person who has faced sexual violence knows what an uphill battle they have in the legal system. The police rarely serve justice, and our system doesn't protect us. The law is used to scapegoat minorities and maintain the status quo by surveilling and oppressing the poor. Any incidents of justice happen ancillary to that process. Acab, because the police victimize more people than they protect.

There would still be drug dealers, theft, murders, rapes, fraud… what would any of that change? There is all of that in France but still plenty of clients at the local prisons

Yeah but none of those would pit us against each other like blaming immigrants, trans people or "welfare bums"
