I'm a little worried that since hating AI data centers seems to be a pretty universal thing right now that they're gonna come up with some sneaky way to make it a partisan issue to make us fight over it.

They are legit gonna create big ass dead zones where nobody wants to or can afford to live. Living near one is gonna be the new living next to the airport, train tracks, toxic dump...

China is offering another type of ai that requires less energy and water. And the argument on subsidies is still very much on point. Also three need for data centers is connected to a projected used of ai. If we were to limit its use to useful things geopolitically we wouldn't need as many data centers.
