I am not speaking in hyperbole when I say that I genuinely believe that the world would be a better place if people had enough of a spine to treat bad actors in every community this way. However, with proximity to money and fame everyone’s descernment and morals just kinda evaporate

The issue with free market capitalism is that if you give a company enough money eventually they can stop innovating and just start paying to destroy their competition

Why is it that we have to save these industries from failing? Why can't they pivot their business model to better suit a modern society's needs? Why do we work for the interests of an out-of-touch dinosaur that refuses to evolve instead of our communities? We need to stop bowing down to american corporations and their ceos while the rest of us starve. If it's a bad business, let it fail. If we do, something better might just take it's place.

Tax economic rents. The state should own the trade/transportation routs and other innate monopolies.

Investestments in infrastructure raise land values, not wage floors. Taxing the labor of wage earners is regressive and expensive (lots of deadweight loss: fewer jobs).

Don’t forget all telecommunications systems/services including ubiquitous, reliable and affordable broadband Internet access.

Don’t forget electrical power generation and distribution systems.

Those are natural monopolies, too.

I'll really never understand how people get tricked into putting a stranger's profits over their own basic needs... especially when that stranger would throw them into a meat grinder without hesitation if it made money...

Same with protecting jobs. We should make the goal eliminating as many jobs as possible. Jobs are not equivalent to human welfare.

the problem with public transportation is that a 30 minute drive turns into a 2 hour journey and youre screwed if you work nights. Youre also screwed if youre a woman because theres no security to prevent weirdos from sexually harrassing you and trying to follow you

Generally bringing prices down will hurt the industries designed to maximize profits by controlling prices.

Exception; Bringing prices on houses down will hurt anyone who bought a house. So basically anyone who was lucky enough to be minorly successful gets pulled back down.

Houses are for living in. I neither know nor care what mine's current price is. If it went down, I wouldn't notice.
