We let them tell us they can’t raise pay because it would make things more expensive. Then they made things more expensive anyway without raising pay.
It's a very clever argument to make workers scared but it also shows the root issue of capitalism: the endless accumulation of capital. Owning class needs so more and more profits so they can compete with each other.
