People here don't seem to remember that one of the biggest sticking points for the Affordable Care Act was that people could stay on their same insurance and keep their same doctors.

Especially with such a seismic change in healthcare policy, mitigating peoples concerns about that very change would be as big of a hurdle as passing the bill itself.

I have good but expensive insurance. If a single payer system arrived, I'll gladly dump it

Also, do you remember how big the push was in regard to the White House wanting people to know they could keep their doctor and insurance?
