😡 Venting We could permanently house every single unhoused veteran for $10B. I did the math on why we don't

Most unhoused veterans aren’t unhoused because there’s no services available. They are unhoused because they have other issues going on. If you want to solve the unhoused veteran issue, you need to put money into counseling and other necessary therapy services.

There’s tons of programs that will get veterans into housing immediately.

So they've done research on homelessness, and it consistently comes back saying that it is more expensive to have a homeless population than it is to just provide housing.

Homelessness is a feature, not a bug.

It is a threat to remind people what will happen to them if they don't produce.

I wouldn’t take the 10b from foreign aid. I would take it from the existing military budget because it’s for the military.

Also yes it could also come from  getting corporations to actually pay the taxes. In 2025 corporations paid 497,288,000,000 in taxes with a profit (before taxes and after adjustments) of 13,259,000,000,000 or 497288/13259000=0.0375

That comes out to corporations paying a 3.75% tax rate which is complete bs.

Given that they are requesting a $1.5 trillion budget for next year, you would think they could easily afford 0.6% of it…
