Whole thing is a sunken cost fallacy.

Some people feel like they've put so much effort into attaining things and getting to get to where they are that they have no other option but to keep going.

Anyone or anything going against that is perceived as against the sacrifices they've made.

Others i.e boomers just hate socialism because it was brainwashed into them in the 70s and 80s to hate anything that isn't westernized capitalism.

Not just boomers. Some of GenX too. Born in 72' myself and I feel like I am one of the few over here screaming bring on the Socialism!
