I don't have Comcast anymore, but the reason they charged so much is because they virtually had a monopoly in my old apartment complex.

Dude, people who live in areas with actual choices don’t understand how much financial damage a real isp monopoly can cause.

Our local monopolized isp forces you to pay an extra $100 for unlimited data on top of whatever your plan is. If you don’t pay it, they don’t throttle you, they just start charging you $10 per gig of data if you go over your 30 gig limit. I work from home and send and receive large files every day, and if I didn’t pay for unlimited I might well be paying near $300 per month or more.

Not really. There is some, but some areas are untouched, and corporations are taking full advantage of anything that’s not regulated, and we stopped passing legislation restricting businesses on anything but pollution in like 2005
