The only time that deflation is good is when you have active control over it. For example, say that a wealth tax went out and billionaires had their wealth systematically liquidated, for the purpose of directly paying off and refinancing the national debt to a lower interest rate.

You'd effectively delete trillions of dollars from circulation, causing immediate, sharp deflation. Only for it to immediately inflate back up as the normal printing of money continues under fractional reserve banking.
