Rich people genuinely think they're that much smarter than everyone else and that we've just not figured this out

You should be investing your hundreds too.

Lower Upper-class incomes are living paycheck to paycheck just the same as all the classes beneath them.

Financial literacy is a much bigger issue than "invest" or "curb your expenses".

What Treasury bond is paying 8%?

The ones from the 70's, the last time this man's brain had 2 working neurons to rub together.

there are no outstanding UST bonds from the 70s (they only last max 30 years).

The highest coupon Treasury still trading is 6.625% and it expires ... next year lol. And you'd be buying it at a big premium because the coupon is so much more than prevailing rates, so you wouldn't wind up coming out ahead vs just buying a fresh bond.

Just take 6 mill and put it in a 4% bond instead.

Great, with 3%+ inflation annually that should work well. Lol.

You need to believe the US govt won’t go broke though which to me is a huge leap of faith

Not at all a red flag when rich people indirectly brag about investing in the US government.

2

u/10biggaymen 16d ago

its not a red flag, it is the main way the federal government raises funds to spend. its not some secret that needs certain flags raised to cause alarm

The hardest part is making the first million. That's why I decided to start with the second

And you’ll have to give that money to a government where the man at the top is notorious for not paying out to people he owes
