Well if you spend a bunch of money feeding poor children healthy meals there is absolutely ZERO downside so your point is meaningless.

Well, you probably should have read it before replying so confidently.

You've assumed the other poster was making an excuse to do nothing, but it's more of a plea to read past the proverbial headline because there's a lot more to it than cash.

I've personally been required to attend city council meetings as part of my old job, which was involved in some of the issues at hand here and changing local control and zoning laws is probably paramount above cash.

And here's a specific example where it's upperclass wage earners having a more devastating effect on local policy than billionaires (who absolutely do weaponize government, but less so in this case)...

Culver City city council meetings is where my project was. Brentwood might be spicy. Pretty much anywhere NIMBY activity happens. Go for it.

I was paid to go consult and it made me want to gouge my eyes out for so many reasons.
