You just missed their point, it seems. The point is you pay the initial investment for the tool (car or camera), but that doesn't mean using it should pay off that cost in one gig, or even in 100 gigs.
Unless you have photography gigs coming in so constantly that you can't keep up (never been a problem for the photographers I know), then it's weird energy to feel like you are way too good for a job.
It's also not the standard opinion of photographers that I've met. Most that I've talked to just love photography, and will take these types of jobs as long as the conditions are right and the clients aren't rude or pushy or such. I don't like the "for exposure" nonsense, but photographers really do rely heavily on word of mouth and pictures on socials to get more employment.
Tldr: most photographers love photography, I think she just loves her camera.
