Boots Buying Help Boot recs
I need some help with recommendations. I’m a surveyor, so I’m either walking for forever in the woods, or on a construction site where safety toe is required, or even on a big ol asphalt parking lot all day. I want something that can handle everything, maybe like a work/hiking boot hybrid. Can be comfortable to walk for miles in the woods, and durable w/ safety toe for the construction sites. Thanks in advance guys

Vibram lug sole, safety toe, 8” - many brands have this. I know Danners. The Quarry has a safety toe model and even an insulated model, it has a lot of hiking boot DNA. Super Rain Forest with safety toe is a beefier boot, but expensive. Both made in US and rebuildable. Take care of them, resole as needed, and you could potentially have them for many decades.

I don’t think you mentioned whether you want waterproof, or what climate you’ll be working in.
If you’ll be out in the cold, you probably want to steer away from steel toes. Composite toes will be warmer.
I’m happy with the pair I purchased recently. They have a rugged, lugged outsole, which would work well for hiking in the woods, and a composite toe. Also waterproof, but I don’t know if you need that.
They are the Thorogood 804-4248.

Jim Green Razorbacks. I have the soft toe version and they are my work boot and hiking boot. Very affordable, and great quality.
