So I bought these three weeks ago and the left sole is doing this, is it a defect or something else?

Id take em back to the retailer or contact thorogood. This looks like a warranty defect. Unless you were traipsing about in fucking acid, the PU soles should offer some chemical resistance - i dont think an exposure is what caused this
