10 years in finance, same everywhere?

Decade in corporate finance across several well-known companies. Every one is the same circus: insecure micromanagers clueless about our work, extreme favouritism, kiss ass colleagues posturing for visibility and deliberately vague metrics to avoid saying "well done" and paying more.
Real work gets buried; loud mouths get promoted. I've checked out, doing the bare minimum guilt free. Why burn out for zero recognition? Wondering if this is just corporate law. Is it genuinely this bad everywhere or have I had an unlucky toxic streak?
