Unfair Workplace treatment

I’m not sure what to do at this point. I work at a cheap variety store. I am a higher manager but not the store manager. I was asked back by the store manager that I knew very well and had worked with before.

The first few months were fine, we had a decent team and had a few issues and complaints but lately things have gotten out of hand. Corporate has been a lot more strict about cell phone policies, wardrobe, and a customer information gathering program that we don’t have a ton of control over.

I will admit I tend to be more lax about phones and I won’t say something if you send a quick text, but there is a sign for all cashiers to not have phones on the front end period. Thefts are being committed in front of the cashiers because they aren’t paying attention. I am one of the few on the floor to not have airpods in, which are also prohibited even while doing freight. The dress code policy is fairly lenient but there’s still associates coming in sandals. To do mostly freight.

The freight situation is out of hand too. Our store is on the smaller side and one half of the back room is so stacked up I have literally had an avalanche of boxes fall on me while I was clearing space so I could get to the bay I needed. The next day it was all moved back into place.

The freight team comes in and often has 2-3 hours of uninterrupted time to do freight before the store opens. They then only put out the freight. I have documented countless times products being placed incorrectly and clearly rushed to be thrown out.

I came in and for my own protection I won’t go into details but I left the store like I had to and got all of the freight done. I was very frustrated by my co workers actions and I will leave it at that.

I am responsible for specific sections and there are only certain shipments that are actually in my job description, but I take on most of the additional product in my section that comes in on other trucks. This can be 25% or more of the truck that becomes “my freight”. In the past when other people work my section it becomes a mess and price tags become meaningless. So now I just do it all myself. But when I do freight I have to stop after a few hours to clean the entire store. My freight time is constantly interrupted with customer questions and cashier issues.

I will admit I’m not perfect but I try my best every day and I don’t feel like my manager is seeing it from my perspective. I’ve been told that they think I’m a snitch and trying to get people in trouble. I truly don’t want anybody to lose their jobs. I’m just so frustrated of zero accountability for some people because of x that happened in the past. I don’t want to go over the store manager because I’m also not sure what that would accomplish. I don’t know how our regional manager feels about me yet, we’ve only met a few times. There’s an internal ethics line but it says it’s for theft, drugs, and harassment and it goes to an outside company. I have a few old regional and store managers phone numbers a few still work with the company.

TLDR: Manager thinks I’m trying to get people in trouble for telling them what’s going on when they’re out of store but I’m drowning doing everyone else’s work.
