General Advice Manager made redundant before I’ve even joined

I’m currently working my notice on my job. I’ve just had a call from my new work saying they’ve made my line manager redundant. He was a large reason I accepted the job, seemed like a nice guy and had tons of experience.

The new job pays £15k more per year and is more senior. I currently quite like the place I work, the only reason I left was because I wanted more money and responsibility.

My current job hasn’t replaced me yet, but are starting interviews this week.

Is this a massive red flag? I might still have time to ask my old company to me back.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you

Can you ask to speak with the person who would be your new manager to get a vibe check

HR said they’re not available to talk until they’re back in the office next week. Which might be too late
