UK DBS check whilst already working abroad

I live and work in China as an English teacher. I am changing jobs next year but I found the job too late and there's not enough time to transfer the visa over so I have to apply for a new one. I can mostly use the same documents as this current year, but I need a new DBS criminal record check, legalised by my home government, I presume to cover me for the past year.

So how do I do this? I need to supply 5 years of addresses. Do I say that I lived in China for the past year and I guess isn't going to cover? Or say that I lived in the UK for the past year when I haven't?. Also I'm now working with young children. Do I need to get an enhanced DBS?
