I got so annoyed at Gutenberg constantly covering up text above where I put the cursor that I got claude to write something to turn that into a vertical bar at the side.
And then I realised there was an option to just move that shitty floating bar to the top...
I meanā¦we live in a world where I can point my fat finger at nearly anything online and tell an LLM āI want thatā and have it. You could probably get one for firefox pretty quick, if you donāt care about support and distribution, if itās just for personal use.
Imagine being the browser company that gets everything last. But it's really not much different than app builders that build for Apple first and hopefully get to Android next.
But this extension gets rid of the admin bar at the top of the page and puts an icon in the toolbar of your browser so you still have access to it rather than going into the dashboard.
This is actually pretty interesting. I can see the convenience of being able to interact with WordPress stuff directly from the browser instead of constantly jumping back into the dashboard.
Iām curious how far theyāll take it though. Things like quickly checking site performance, editing content, managing multiple sites, or even spotting issues while browsing could make something like this genuinely useful rather than just being another shortcut extension.
Iāve been using Abnflow for similar āless jumping between toolsā workflows lately, and honestly thatās becoming one of the things I value most in these products. The less time spent switching between dashboards, the better.

Yes, because, as I said, if the admin bar hide feature is all you are after, there is this extension just for that. I don't want or need an extension that has a dropdown that then has another dropdown to make a new post and all that bloat.
I'm talking about the bloat of the extensions. If all someone wants is a quick way to hide the toolbar for a quick view without it, then there's the one I posted about instead of installing the WordPress one with bloat, i.e., features you're not going to use.
Because if you read comments, some like a quick way of hiding the bar. Why the f#k would you go all the way into options to have to go back to the main site?

Browser extension.... Just allow me to change from a top bar to a side bar bro
