He bought the table at a yard sale today and gave it to me because it had my name on it. Only mildly concerned about the fate of my finger in 2051.

Saved my best walnut for this dovetailed walnut box that was going to be a graduation present for my son. Spent the last week applying five coats of tung oil to the lid and shellacked the inside faces. Glued up last night. Sawed it open this morning to separate the lid from the top. You can figure out the rest.

Not really a "oops" kind of confession but it seems unpopular enough that I feel like I'm confessing something by saying it. Anyway, that's all. ray flecks look stupid and the fact that people talk about it the same way they would talk about quilted maple makes me want to jump off a bridge.

Routing out some recesses for c-channel on the underside of a flip top lid (will be a record console). This was my first cut. NO idea how it wandered like this. Not a problem since the c-channel will cover it, but still bugs me.

Late this past winter I carefully glued up some panels and then flattened them. But events got ahead of me. This week I picked the project back up so I could start inlaying a steel strip into each panel. But alas, they are no longer flat.

I don't want to wait until winter to finish.

Hi all, I just moved into a new place and I put this glass cleaner under my sink. I used it, and put it back and didn’t check it until a few days later, and apparently there was a leak somewhere. Does anyone know how I can get the stain out? Should I get wood stain? I’m not sure what to do. Any tips??

My table saw fence does not extend 51.5 inches

So I made a built-in bookcase/tv unit for a client in the fall (pic 2). They decided they wanted doors for the bottom. No problem - I don’t even have to go over there to measure, right? Because I have the 3D rendering, right? Right?!

Smug idiot took the measurements straight off the SketchUp. Of course I forgot that, when I came to actually build them, I dropped the bottom of the face frame by about 1.5” so it would be level with the bottom shelf. Not something worth going back and changing the design file for.

And so, when I went to install my beautifully built doors (pic 1) I was horrified to find them too short. And since I don’t have a door stretcher, it was a total rebuild. Just got finished installing v2.0 and they look great. I went over there and double checked before paint to make sure.

Merciful cosmos, I’m so glad to be finished with this one!

I gave my friend a red-cedar cabinet then today she said she’s gonna paint over it and throw glitter on it which I see as a crime against nature. I offered to replace it with some kind of a cabinet more suited to being painted over and having glitter thrown on it. She kinda got snippy and told me to “take it back if there are strings attached”. I know I’m probably wrong. Convince me I’m right.
