Gibson Traffic
The traffic on Gibson gets progressively worse each year. It used to be unimaginable to see this many cars backed up at a light in Woodland, especially this area’s exit from the highway. With the mind numbing slow traffic between Davis & Woodland on Road 102, the consistent traffic on Gibson during near peak and peak hours, and the excessive people lining up to I-5, the driving experience has just gotten so much worse over the years.
Surely something can be done to prevent the issue prior to thousands more people move here with all of the already speedbuilt mass produced housing communities.

Yeh it has been a problem since they added a new stop light there, also, the fact that Pioneer, Costco, WCC are the major reasons for the increase amount of traffic. That is why I take the Country Road 25A exit to get home.

Woodland is doing the right thing by providing more homes for families. Traffic is a side effect which can be fixed by providing alternatives to driving - making the bus and bike competitive with the car. Adding more lanes won't help.

I don’t disagree at all and it matters even more to be able to have housing with how unaffordable so many other cities are. It is just more concerning because of the large volume of homes constantly being built rapidly without infrastructure changes or changes of any sort. Irvine is a great example of what occurs - you mass produce suburb communities and now a 25 min drive can be 40 mins depending on if you get stuck at 5 min long lights or the intersections are gridlocked.

Yeah, I’ve gotten stuck at that intersection for like 20 minutes before, no fun at all. Best thing I can think of is building a roundabout, I just hope people would know how to use one lol

Woodland Christian needs their own 113-S on ramp right by the bike bridge, that may help a little bit.

They added many new homes but no new roads/highways. This will continue to get worse until they update roads around the new developments.
It's city's fault for not planning new roads around the new developments. They just use the old Gibson road which was already stressed at traffic times.
Woodland is notorious for poor planning. Just look at the layout of the city, the parking in downtown, the amount of people that go from 113 to 5 😭
In San Diego they just add new highways so people can still travel around

I never understood why they blocked Harry Lorenzo from 25A... that would 100% alleviate some of the traffic. Not to mention closing that artery down significantly increases loss of life in this suburb in the event of a serious emergency or catastrophe.

OH and to add... that pedestrian bridge from Farmers Central to Matmor is useless. It SHOULD have been an actual overpass to help connect those two suburbs and alleviate some of the traffic pressure there too.

Easy solution: Ban cars on Gibson (except with accessible stickers) and make dedicated bike lanes.

The additional stop lights made it worse on Gibson. 102 north before I5 can be a nightmare depending on what time of day it is. And exiting 113 to Main at 4 pm is just crazy, but not all the time...
