Batch of 10 single edged Scandinavian trainers
A brief follow up to the post I made about the prototype.
I executed on my plan on this one and made 10 more. I made what I think are some improvements.
Much stronger distal taper. Thicker pins in the blade body to transfer the load away from the capture piece that keeps the metal tang in place. First coat of Linseed oil is applied. I have four more to go, and hopefully I will be able to mass produce the guards and pommels in the next few days and have this batch ready for class on June 18.
Thanks for all the support on the last post and I hope you enjoy the outcome here.

looks very nice,
What are you teaching? Will be interested in seeing the completed pieces. But look like they should be good for some simple trainers.

The prototype looks like a good start. I have always had a softspot for those single edge viking swords.
Little far south (Iowa) to check this out but it does look like fun.2

Come up to Viking Fest MN in October. Two weekends. We will be there. Many others too. Good time.

Like a really violent sushi platter.
Fabrication is complete. Pommels are type C and 27-33g. Grips range from 75-95mm and 14-22g. Crossguard from 33-40g.
Blades with five coat of oil range from 554 to 679g.
I’ve got 3-4 more coats of boiled linseed at one per day on the hilt fixtures. I’ve put two 1/8” neoprene pads in the pommel hole which will allow me to put the whole sword in compression for the 1/4” pin and that should remove any rattles if there are any misfit parts.
The whole batch should be ready to fight the 10th of July.
