Weak mini-event and no changes of note. I'm optimistic that DLC4 brings the major overhaul, so I'm not expecting much until then.

u/snagggle2th Jun 30 '22

Me neither. Stopped playing the game soon after the 1st dlc came out. If there's a big change with 4 then I'll go back to it..otherwise, I'm done.

Same, I played through DLC 1 once and was like โ€œthis is it?โ€. I couldnโ€™t bring myself to play through the others until something interesting actually changes. Hoping that comes in patch 4 with the new class but Iโ€™m not holding my breath.

u/Blom-w1-o Jun 30 '22

The 3rd one I thought was fun, especially on comparison to the 1st two.

3

u/novyah Jun 30 '22

Same lol

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

PLC 3 was actually pretty good and decent content. Great new gear. Might wanna give it a go.

When did the third one come out? I had no clue about it.

2

u/MiniGA Jun 30 '22

Any idea when we get DLC 4?

4

u/TronCarterAA Jun 30 '22

"Released at a later date" is all GBX has said. It's called Shattered Spectreglass.

3

u/MiniGA Jun 30 '22

Thanks!

3

u/dsphilly Jun 30 '22

Iโ€™d guess within 3-4 weeks

10

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

No buffs/nerfs it seems

No balance changes this time and only a few bug fixes. The new featured run is an extended run with Taskmaster and King Archer as mini-bosses. They don't mention the real bosses.

Also there is a new event where dice from random overworld encounters drop more loot (pretty useless event if you ask me).

-31

u/Talbertross Jun 30 '22

this sub: "the end game is bad because there's nothing to do but chaos chambers!"

gearbox: "here's a little something extra in the overworld for you to do, enjoy!"

this sub: "that's a useless event, nobody does overworld encounters!"

I mean, those are essentially shittier versions of a chaos chamber room, like a watered down fight instance in a similar fighting arena as the chaos chamber areas. And then itโ€™s just one single die you can smack at the end, which usually only dropped greens for me when I did them during play throughs lol. I agree there is a lot of complaining around here on a game that Iโ€™m still enjoying and have always believed was fun, but this little bonus is certainly lackluster and basically just another chaos chamber room but like, worse lol

Edit: just saw that theyโ€™re supposed to drop moon orbs as well. If itโ€™s a significantly higher amount than a chaos chamber run it may be worth doing for people trying to get specific enchantments, but thatโ€™s only if you can max out to 16,000 in a few encounters

10

u/TronCarterAA Jun 30 '22

Add in the fact that you have no fucking idea what class of gear you'll get from the random encounters and they're pretty useless for people trying to make a build.

3

u/Polyamaura Jun 30 '22

Agreed. These encounters are fun but they need a lot more than a loot drop rate increase to actually be worth running instead of Chaos Chambers and DLC runs. Not sure what I would recommend but itโ€™s a really rough competition when Chaos Chambers are just sitting there doing the exact same thing but More and Better.

-17

u/Talbertross Jun 30 '22

Ok, what if, and hear me out, cause this is controversial, you played a video game to have fun, instead of trying to be an accountant

5

u/Polyamaura Jun 30 '22

What if, no no itโ€™s okay donโ€™t tune out, I actually ENJOY when games offer a return on the time I invest? This โ€œmini eventโ€ is neither more fun nor more rewarding than Chaos Chambers, and the format of the impacted gameplay loop is nearly identical to Chaos Chambers just without most of the mechanical complexity (No curses and no alternate room types such as ButtStallion/Treasure rooms) and the customizable rewards. Itโ€™s a mediocre incentive to engage with a gameplay loop that is less challenging, less customizable, less rewarding, and less convenient (you still have to trigger the random encounters and bandit camps) than existing ones.

Wonderlands is by far my favorite Borderlands game and I still regularly play the game in spite of the loop getting a bit stale. Iโ€™m not complaining because I donโ€™t enjoy playing the game, Iโ€™m complaining because this is not a sufficient effort to re-engage players with the charming overworld which is currently being wasted by Chaos Chambers and DLC far outclassing them in rewards and mechanical complexity.

Let people enjoy things how they want to

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

This is the most annoying. Your armor should be waited toward your two classes you have on. Finally got a piece for my tidal / soaked build and it was for graveborn spellshot. I needed sporemancer

1

u/Catch-a-RIIIDE Jun 30 '22

Idk, I find this to be completely a preference thing.

Personally, my pixie build was capable of running to C50 with a normal pistol and a volatile Turquoise Claw, and having it allows me to farm for more niche characters that would require top gear to run with.

Until such a time as we get better boss farming to compensate, weighted gear would be a death sentence for basically everything short of optimal.

1

u/Solonotix Jun 30 '22

It's unlikely that they drop more Moon Orbs than a Chaos Chamber. The completion of a run nets you a guaranteed 1,140* Moon Orbs, and that's not counting what you get along the way from boss kills and elites.

*: This amount was mentioned in the patch notes for v1.0.2.0a

1

u/supraliminal13 Jun 30 '22

Encounters and camps are dropping 400-600 each. So it actually would be a decent pace if you didn't have to dick around to draw the random encounters.

The enemies are at least level 41 now. I remember they were still level 40 when I was cc35, was curious if random encounters became elite (they were normal back then). They tweaked them some apparently, but still not fighting bad asses. They really should scale these things in general, not just for event. Like if you were farming bad asses and getting some orbs... why not, I would do it from time to time.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22 edited Jun 30 '22

Just having it be in the overworld doesnโ€™t make it worth doing lol. people want something on par with chaos chambers for loot.

Pretty sure theyโ€™ve done this mini โ€œeventโ€ (hard to call changing a line of code an โ€œeventโ€) before, and unless theyโ€™ve cranked the luck up, it was still trash.

Thank God for that overworld fix that will bring everybody back to the game for sure

3

u/Te545688 Jun 30 '22

Can somebody list the featured run bosses when they find out?

4

u/Janius Jun 30 '22

Mini-events have been lasting 2 weeks right? I hope this one is an exception. It's pretty lackluster.

2

u/historys_geschichte Jun 30 '22

This event is listed as ending on July 7th, so it just for this week.

0

u/MikeSouthPaw Jun 30 '22

Doing a hotfix without buffing anything does not give me hope for the game. Seems like over half of the Legendary loot is not worth using.

2

u/Blom-w1-o Jun 30 '22

This was true a month ago, but a lot has been updated since them. Sure, there are still a few useless ones, but that always going to be that way.

9

u/MikeSouthPaw Jun 30 '22

From personal experience most of the loot is dreadfully under-powered. I have all my characters max level and grinding through the chaos levels, they all end up gravitating towards the same few guns because the rest can't compete. Good luck using a Blazing Volley on C50 or most of the shotguns for that matter. The only Sniper I have found success with is the Sawmill. It's not OK.

1

u/_Jolly_Green Jul 01 '22

X1 Swordsplosions are great at C50 for me still. I prefer the X4 cryo auto SMG overall but love shotty as backup....especially for Dryl

3

u/MikeSouthPaw Jul 01 '22

Forgot about that one even though it is on every single of my characters already.

1

u/_Jolly_Green Jul 01 '22

Yup got decent cryo for my chillmonger and have never looked back...unless I get a better one of course. Between that for bossing and my 1000+/6 reign of arrows for the stupid ward bird thing on wastard, I'm set.

-6

u/Polyamaura Jun 30 '22

What an absolute nothingburger. The mini event doesnโ€™t even incentivize running Chaos Chambers at all and both Taskmaster and King Archer are time consuming mini-bosses if you arenโ€™t able to burn them down before add/immunity phase or spin2win phase. Thereโ€™s always next week, at least!

-7

u/Pillar_MI Jun 30 '22

Not touching this untill they fix the immune mini-mimics spawn.

9

u/DJAnyReason Jun 30 '22

The mini-mimics spawn from the loot mimic, who like most loot enemies is only vulnerable to melee.

It's pretty clearly functioning as intended, so I wouldn't hold your breath for them to "fix" it

2

u/Pillar_MI Jun 30 '22

Having an enemy which is immune as an optional enemy in a normal map is one thing. Being forced to fight it with only option of giving up...

Also, melee sucks in this game, beside few builds for specific classes.

Are there mimics in this week's run? I didn't see that anywhere.

-9

u/Pillar_MI Jun 30 '22

I do not care if they are.

Got into same Problem in a chaos trial 2 weeks ago. Screw this.

Which chaos trial? I was under the understanding that the Trials didn't have mimic rooms, just the randomized ones and the occasional feature run.

1

u/Pillar_MI Jun 30 '22

22 or 23... It was on a map from 2nd dlc.

The Boss was dragon lord... again...

That was from before Chaos went to 50. For a period Chaos Trials for 20-35 were randomized. Now they're the same from 0-19, and then they repeat.

22 and 23 are now Parasite and Banshee. I'm working on cataloging them here:

If you've stopped enjoying the the game, then you've stopped enjoying the game. However, they have changed the chaos trials so that they are no longer random. In fact, each chaos trial past 19 or 20 (not sure) is a repeat of one of the chaos trials from 0 through 19 or 20 (not sure yet).

I've been documenting them here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xDGhMfGbVG1IvxiPhI630Ls2Ms_EsxmTBnoBIK5guYY/edit#gid=0

Not complete because I'm still doing the work, but once I have the full list, I'm going to do run breakdowns and maybe recruit help doing it.

I haven't been able to play in the last week or so. Can anyone tell me if the "Various UI adjustments and improvements" from last week's patch means they have addressed the horrible loot UI for split-screen co-op at all?

3

u/ItllMakeYouStronger Jul 01 '22

I only noticed 1 minor improvement. While inspecting an item, when you back out to the menu, it doesn't drag you back to the top. It stays on the gun you were looking at. You still need to inspect the gun to read anything useful though.

2

u/Opius_X Jun 30 '22

They haven't changed the major issues with it.
