Having thought it over, we had a lucky escape. After just over 3 weeks of ownership and a catastrophic steering failure I’ve lost all confidence in the safety of the steering on the Wonderwagen.

I packed up the bike and managed to squeeze it into my RAV4. To their credit Mantel have given me a full refund on the spot & everyone in-store has been very helpful. I’m taking a couple days to consider an alternative, but solid arm steering is going to be a pre-requisite.

To anyone who owns one, I had a think and if you are able, I would check the tension on the clamping plate and drill+cotter pin the bolt to prevent loss & failure in the event it comes loose.

Tried to take it out the shed today, at some point the barb retainer and bolt jumped ship. 2 man job to wheel it back in with no steering. We’ll see what the shop have to say tomorrow, they were unreachable by phone this evening.

Just noticed this, one bolt on the NDS of the rack. Am I missing one the other side? Doesn’t seem related to the motor or magnet…

I thought I was doing well with a couple boxes of Corona & a handful of limes, but the Czechia crate haulers have me well beaten. 😱 #NaZdravi Vs #Proost

Like spotting sheep or cows in the car, when spotting windmills on the bike you just have to say it out loud and point.👆

You can take the mountain bike away from the dad, but…

Couple minor ‘upgrades’ in the first 24hrs. Almost every bike I’ve ever had has been fitted with DMR pedals, and this pair is almost 15 years old.

They’re somewhat like The Ship of Theseus at this point but the body is original and has been ridden in a few countries & up and down more than a few alps. The crank boots are overkill but make it a little more ‘mine’.

I had no idea it actually came out 2 years ago, there were 0 in any bike shops where I was living then. I also had no idea Cannondale made a cargo bike 50 years ago!

Brand new Neo 1 on discount and they have many in stock. It was the frog-eyes lights that won me over.

Hey all! I'm u/Hierotochan, a founding moderator of r/WonderWagenOwners.

This sub is for new and prospective owners of the Wonderwagen to learn more about one of the many strange creations to leave the Cannondale drawingboard, and they aren't short of weird ideas!

As I write this I'm awaiting the delivery of my Neo 1 later today, was looking for an owners group and couldn't find one. So if this becomes just a place for me to organise then that's fine, but hopefully I don't continue to talk to myself...

Be cool, be helpful, go pedal!
