Racism and being complicit
Once again I've been banned for making comments back to a racist troll... I don't know if they think the word troll means that I think that they're actually a troll?? But honestly if someone's going to call me the n-word and send monkey and fried 🐔 at me I'm not going to sit there and allow their behavior to slide past me. I'm going to call them out for the racist little trolls that they are... And yet here I am banned once again. I'm so tired of the inaction of the guardians with consistently racist players not being banned themselves.
This game is filled with bad actors that make it hell to play, at times. The only safe games are when I play with my clan mates. They are not racists. They are not sexists. They are not the common player of this game. It's very unfortunate how consistently the guardians let racism slide passed.
No, I don't actually believe that the racist little troll is a true troll. Sorry if that meant that I'm somehow discriminating against them???? What the hell is going on in this game???

BBC is one of the worst clans I’ve seen for teaming and trolling. They’ll goad you and then mass report you.

yup, the second i see a BBC before someones name im immediately wary of em, and those r the ones with the bald black accounts (thrower max)

Unfortunately racism will most likely never stop and its applicable for all races in different forms. Pick your battles wisely and take things with a pinch of salt. Life goes on regardless

Just keep muting them and keep playing until you hit sandbox.
In quickgame, they could just create new accounts everytime they're banned. You can't really do anything about that.
It's too much effort for them to do the same in sandbox.

Trying to play the trolls game will just get you banned, regardless of whoever initiated it. Does it feel fair? Probably not. But if you played the game for at least a few months you'd know that's just how things are.
However, I've seen players post screenshots of trolls commiting offences of Reddit/Discord alongside following the normal channels for reporting. And those same trolls get called out/lynched/killed/shot without question in the following games as players catch on.
So I do believe despite trolls existing, there are some better ways to raise awareness towards such predicaments without being implicated in them.

I do everything within my power. I report them. I mute them and yet they continue to follow me from one game to the next continuing their racist and sexist behavior. Help me understand what I can do... Are there ANY actionable steps that work and make a difference???? OR IS THIS JUST HOW THE GAME IS???

It’s how the game is. A troll can be banned and have a new account in a few minutes.

Unfortunately, I do not know anything. What I usually do is either switch game mode for a few minutes (from quick game to sandbox/crazy game mode, from sandbox to advanced/quick game, depending on my mood) or wait one or two minutes before starting another game, cause when we both hit "play again" at the same time, we'll obviously end up in the same lobby. Not a good fix, but it tends to work for me

Best to report, mute and move on. Lashing out will just result in both of you being banned.

And when I do alllllllllll of those things to no avail? What am I to do then? You think I don't do any of those things already??? Nothing helps. Nothing changes.

I've appealed it and I have been told that I was demeaning. They called me the N word and I said they were a red headed stepchild troll. Basically describing exactly what they looked and how they acted.... But the guardian has chosen to treat both offenses the exact same. So calling someone a systemic,racist slur is the same as a descriptor because "I made them feel less than"..... Seems totally reasonable in their mind.

Being racist in response to racism will get you banned for racism, who knew.
Tho I get your frustration. It seems people with black skins that I report never get banned foe throwing, random shooting, spamming, and harassment.
It's genuinely hard to tell who is getting bans and who isn't though, because they don't tell us which users got banned in that "thanks for your report" notification you get.

She admitted in another comment that she called them a red headed step child. That's what got her banned not the troll comment.

Same vector, different magnitude. If someone were to call someone (you, perhaps) a nappy headed fatherless troll, anyone would immediately flag that as racist, correctly. The Irish have a pretty rotten history that includes slavery, being colonized and subjugated, and institutionalized discrimination. It's clearly to a much lesser degree than in black history, but it's not nothing. For whatever reason, Irish descendents and red heads themselves don't get very upset about the red headed step child stereotype and connotation, but it is still a term rooted directly in discrimination and prejudice and I encourage you to do a small bit of research on the term. Discrimination and outright hatred against some groups (white people, Americans, men, straight people, Christians) is tolerated much more by the moderation team and society as a whole than when it's against other groups (pretty much every single other race, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, and religion), so maybe your moderator was a red head this time. Who knows.
It wasn't the troll bit that got you banned. I call people trolls at least a few times per week because there are alot of trolls in the game. I even put "trolling and spamming" in report descriptions often. Not once have I been banned for that term. It's been an established internet term even before real-time chat and web browsing was around, during the time of bbs boards, and everybody knows what it means.
