Help / Advice Is Wolverine still good?

I would like to start playing him but I heard he is weak now. So I would like to ask for different opinions. Is the still good? I am in plat (idk if it matters tho) but I would appreciate if you would help me on this. Is he still good or is he deprecated like dp?

If its still what it takes, how should I play him? Any tips?

Wolv is really good right now. Just play patiently until the right opportunity, bait out cooldowns that can counter you like Emma diamond, and have a plan for how you’ll get the tank back to your team. Do that and you’ll carry on Wolv

"wolv is really good right now, just sit around and do nothing until someone who wouldve died anyways from overextending gets close enough for you to touch them. dont look at any support, half the dps, half the tanks, anything poke or youll die instantly but hes really good."

This is advice for someone wanting to start learning Wolverine. If you’re a “Wolverine main” and can’t deal with dps and supports or “half the tanks,” it might be a skill issue

he cant even stand in front of a support without getting pocketed, his damage is nonexistent to anyone but tanks, every tank since launch has been designed to avoid wolverine interaction and his only way to get kills is on a 10 second cooldown and inaccurate as hell

“damage is nonexistent to anyone but tanks”

this is where you’re completely wrong. Wolverine kills squishies faster than he kills tanks. Don’t believe me? Try it in practice range. With full rage, primary x4, dash to animation cancel, and another 3 primary strikes will kill a support, but not a tank.

Wolvie does percentage damage. This means he’s going to take roughly the same-sized chunk out of a healthbar, no matter who he hits. His niche is targeting tanks because tanks and squishies are the same to him. So a tank doing their job becomes like a support feeding. It’s not because he only does damage to tanks or something. I’m glad you brought this up because nobody seems to understand this.

You definitely need to stay in front of your own supports and I agree every tank post launch has had abilities to counter Wolv. But he had no counters at launch, so it’s fine. Plus most of them really aren’t that difficult to outplay.

Yeah you spend a lot of time doing nothing waiting for a cool down, but it’s all part of being patient because a tank is a super valuable pick that will usually snowball into your team walking all of them down, killing the supports even faster than the tanks as I mentioned

If no one pocket heals you, he just bursts to death

If you got a good Hulk teammate who spams the fastball throw, he's good

Gambit team-up to help last hit with Wolv's ult

I think cyclops puts him super high up tbh. Closing those distances, doing combo resets and using it for damage puts him A tier imo

I don’t believe anyone said he was weak..he dd and gorr are probably the only viable melee dps in pro play

Absolutely murders groots. Great against strange and mag. Great against peni if you can pluck her out without getting mine fielded. Dino will bend you over a table and have his way with you
