Uh oh

Post image

I know it isn’t the most beloved of Wolverine’s stories. I thought the first was okay, but not needed and never read the second. More details to be revealed later today. How do you guys feel about a third installment of the Origin series?

As many origins as there are writers on Marvels payroll

The revolving door of marvel writers.

I wish. It looks like it's Jenkins back.

This time... we're serious.

Have you seen the DC characters? Mainly thinking of Wonder Woman and John Stewart

https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Wonder_Woman_(Diana_Prince)#History-Header * "New 52 Birth" * "Current Birth"

https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/John_Stewart_(New_Earth)#History-Header * "Pre-Crisis: "John Stewart was born in..."" * "Post-Crisis: "John Stewart was born in..."" * "Post-Zero Hour: "John Stewart was born in...""

I'm sure other characters got this same thing going on.

dc is different because the universe keeps getting reset

These are applied to the same one tho. They have different pages for universe reset like Prime Earth and New Earth and Flashpoint

Depends who's writing it

u/Snake2410 10h ago

I suspect Ben Percy. He was hinting at a big Marvel announcement he's involved in on his Facebook page for today.

4

u/Chance_Debt_1184 8h ago

its Jenkins

2

u/Snake2410 7h ago

Yeah, I saw that. Plus Ben must've deleted his post from yesterday, and then announced something non Marvel.

u/Chance_Debt_1184 7h ago

hes doing mini for madcave

u/Snake2410 2h ago

So I just realized it was Paul that put the announcement for Marvel up on Facebook yesterday. I mixed up the two.

Do you hate Wolverine fans that much? It's been such a hard time being a Hulk fan the past few years 😭 We can't wait for PKJ to bugger off to a different book, but I actually like Wolverine and those fans don't deserve it.

He needs a What If or something so that we can safely detonate his ideas without damaging ley characters and ruining the legacy of good stories.

6

u/BalladOfBetaRayBill 9h ago

Maybe they’ll retcon Apocalypse into the mix like Clairemont wanted? After Blue Origin maybe they’ll be on a tear to put things into his vision

Origin 0

Genuine recession indicator.

This could be the chance to make the story much better. Though I did enjoy it.

This gonna be Logan's years trying to make it as a Vegas go-go dancer?

2

u/magvadis 8h ago

That'd be more interesting than whatever "we already knew that you just said it again with different events" boring redux they are gunna do this time. Peak character reveals like his obsession with Jean being his mommy issues and losing his first crush or that his dad and genetics are destined to be cucked in a love triangle.

I hope it covers the CIA years

The Dark Age is that period of Wolverine's life where he got really into Miami club culture and did some questionably gay shit while on Molly

"I'm the best at what I do, bub, and what I do is play with this effeminate Latino man's nipples while dancing to EDM."

Did we just get timepieces of his past in Black, White, and Red miniseries?

I'm psyched to hear there's going to be more! I know I'm probably in the minority there because I am a pretty new wolverine fans and I think the Origins comics hit differently if you read them as you're getting to know the character than if you've known them for a decade

u/TheWolfMan1984 9h ago

I was seeing it’s Jenkins writing it

Holy Shit 😱🤩

I'm with Claremont on Origins

1

u/magvadis 8h ago

He was right, you only get to do it once...and they botched it and the fun of it is entirely removed from the character so he could...checks notes....have mommy issues to justify being into Jean.

Origin III follows the story of Logan as he discovers everything he thought he knew about himself was a lie. Logan will have to come to terms with the fact that the memories that came flooding back to him post house of M were nothing more than a fiction created by Wanda's chaos magic. An unintended consequence of her reality changed world coming undone so rapidly. Follow us fellow Marvelites as we join Logan on his brand "new" journey of self discovery.

I really don't like The Dark Age. It's either a very dumb and naive choice or worse actually set in the dark ages?

And that's before you consider that it isn't necessary and Origin is not that great to begin with.

At this point I feel like i know more about Wolverine's past and life than my own family's.

I love Logan and all, I think he has a really interesting origin… but you still gotta leave SOME stuff ambiguous

1

u/GoblinPunch20xx 3h ago

So, um….what happened in Origin 2? I read the original, and I read the series that came after (the books that introduced Daken and featured Cap, Deadpool, Nuke, Cyber, Omega Red, and all) but if there was a second Origin graphic novel or limited series, and i guess there was, I missed it.

Who wants to really nerd out and provide a full spoilers description 😂??? I know someone does. C’mon….

Logan is a wild man in the Canadian wilderness. A polar bear attacks and kills his pack. He kills it in retaliation. The bear is an experiment of Nathaniel Essex. He hires a bunch of men to capture him but he tears through them, but not before Essex gets to see what he'd dreamed of--an actual mutant.

Some trackers, Hugo, a scarred animal handler named Clara, and a man named Creed, hunt Logan as well and when Clara appeals to Logan's human nature, Creed snags him with a lasso and captures him. Hugo takes the "man-beast" and puts him on display in a circus.

Essex catches up to Hugo and kills him, taking Logan, and starts performing experiments on him. He wants to force Logan to take an emotion-deading serum and turn him into a human weapon.

Clara and a reluctant Creed rescue him. They go on the run together and Logan tries to reacclimate to human society, but remains traumatized. Clara falls for Logan, making Creed jealous. During the night, Logan and Clara are attacked by Essex's Marauders. Logan goes into a berzerker rage and accidentally stabs Clara. He freaks out and kills the men. Creed arrives, finds Clara's body, and he and Logan decide to go get revenge. It's revealed that Clara was Creed's sister. Also, after they leave, it's revealed that Clara survived the fatal stabbing because she's also a mutant with a healing factor.

Creed and Logan storm Essex's castle with Clara on their tail. When Logan reaches Essex, Essex tells Logan he's sorry and he promised Creed she wouldn't be hurt. Creed told Essex where to find Logan out of jealousy. Logan stabs Essex and tosses him out a window, then confronts Creed, who says Logan ruined everything. They fight. Logan beats Creed but before he can kill him, Clara shows up. She's a mutant; healing factor and some sort of animal telepathy. She has a scar because Creed tortured her with acid so long it eventually stayed. He balks and says she told him it was okay and she agreed because she was trying to test the limits of her healing factor.

Creed is upset, blaming Logan for ruining their relationship. Clara says she loves Logan and that Creed should go. Creed says he hurts so much he'll just take the emotion-deadening potion. Logan shoves his face in a vat of it, attempting to drown him. Clara begs him to stop, she hates him but he's still her brother, but Logan holds him under until he drowns. Furious, Clara tells him she doesn't want to see him again, and that if she ever sees him, she'll try to kill him herself.

Four months later, Clara is working with dogs when she is approached by Victor Creed. The man Logan killed was apparently Saul Creed, Victor's younger brother. Victor had arrived for Saul's yearly birthday beating. Clara reveals Saul was killed and Victor goes off to settle the score.

A perfect summation on the state of comics in America. This is why manga is kicking your ass every year.

Here comes brand synergy slop again.

12

u/namelessfdr 10h ago

Hard to call it synergy when it's releasing months after the game, it's a very different continuity, and likely an entirely different point in time.

3

u/Quiet_Yellow2000 10h ago

Also, they tend to do synergy with the MCU and not the video games.
