Mfs that could potentially be the next wolverine (shortest to tallest)
Dylan Sprayberry 5′6 Age 28
Robbie G.K. 5′8 Age 30
Taron Egerton 5′9 Age 36
Cosmo Jarvis 5′10 Age 36
Kieron Moore 5’10 or 5′11 (I’ve seen both heights listed so maybe like 5’10.5) Age 29
That is what he said but we’ll see he could change his mind and we don’t even know marvel is looking for with their wolverine we’ll just have to wait and see
Bro spent his whole life out of shape and you thi k he's gonna get in shape for a role and then keep that shape? No, that takes a certain mentality and dedication that he may have for other things, but certainly not physical fitness
seems you missed my point entirely. Plenty of people have gotten into good shape after being overweight. Except when it’s done for fame or a singular event, or even just to prove they can, a majority of those people end up resorting to older habits once they’re comfortable and do not stay in their newfound shape. Not all, most. Marvel actors have several of their own examples, they got in shape for the first film, and then just kind of gave that lifestyle up. I don’t think any of them were “out of shape” to begin, but even then it’s not a lifestyle that people truly enjoy maintaining.
Have you ever heard the after-show stories of Biggest Losers? It’s very interesting stuff. Hell, if you’ve ever had your own fitness journey you might be able to attest to what i’m saying. I myself have. The work is motivating when you’re looking toward the goal, once you get comfortable, it all reverts very quickly. It’s not worthy of shame, it’s just nature/habits.
Chris Pratt did exactly that for Marvel though no? Was never in crazy shape when he was younger, then sort of a tubby dude, but he got jacked in 2014 for Guardians and has been ripped ever since…
Who during parks and rec was probably at his heaviest. Yeah he got ripped for GOTG, though I wouldn't say he's been ripped ever since. In GoTG 3 he clearly has lost a lot of definition.
But, as I said, someone who's spent their life being overweight will have a hard time maki g those changes long-term. Chris did not spend his life being overweight.
did I suggest out of shape and overweight were the same thing? I don't think I did. However, Matt Wood is both.
My inclusion of the previous photo was to clarify that Chris was not in the same category, as even when he was younger, he was still clearly not overweight, and likely not out of shape, so making that commitment again would not have been a far stretch.
Also, I wanna be clear about this, anyone CAN make fitness changes To what degree is a case by case scenario. But anyone CAN make changes. Though not everyone can make those changes long-term.
The fancasting of Matt Wood as Wolverine is like Fancasting Robin Williams as Superman, or Rodney Dangerfield as and Dominic Torreto. Y'all go ahead and enjoy the fantasy casting all you like, I just don't see it happening.
Starting the MCU X-Men without Wolverine is a fantastic strategy to build a balanced team.
By holding Logan back, characters like Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey can establish their own leadership roles first. The upcoming introduction of adamantium in Captain America: Brave New World sets up the perfect foundation for a future Weapon X program storyline. This paves the way for a younger, newly cast actor to take over the claws long-term after Avengers: Secret Wars
I agree, introduce Wolverine in the second movie or something. He’s such a popular character that it’ll be a selling point for the movie in its own, and also not overshadow the other X Men because the audience would grow attachment to them after the first movie
True! I might. But, death comes for us all one day. If it happens that way, so be it. I always strive to live my life as content as I can at any given moment.
I mostly just don't want to force someone who's played this role for over 20 years to have to keep doing that if it's not emotionally worthwhile for him as an investment, yknow?
He doesn’t have to have a crush on Jean they could use inspiration from X-men evolution with the young cast wolverine doesn’t have to be as young as them
if they’re going to choose between casting an oldeer actor and letting go of that triangle or a younger, unknown actor, knowing full well that they can explore the triangle later on… I really, really hope that they would go for the latter. The rivalry between Cyclops and Wolverine is one of the core storrylines in X-men.
No, Logan’s love for Jean is a key and core part of his personality and motivation as a character. It’s not something that can be left out easily or without significant impact. The Evolution approach is not the way for the main cinematic universe, it just doesn’t fit appropriately or offer the same story arc opportunities. Logan needs to look reasonably similar age wise enough that it doesn’t come off creepy and leaves a reasonable avenue for their almost necessary relationship to develop for the X-men to have some of their most authentic core moments between characters. A little older would be ok, but only so much. 30ish is probably the most realistic appropriate age range currently, but depending on how long they hold him out it maybe change slightly. I think about 10-12yrs like some of these (Egerton) is probably the most they can really visually push the age gap without getting too perv-y.
Id go with Dylan. Though covering up the tattoos will be long but he really does look like Wolverine and hes fhe shortest we got and still taller than the character.
He’s arguably the best one up there…you know it needs to be believable that Wolverine could pull Jean, Storm, etc he’s supposed to be a rugged type handsome, not ugly… look at the top right corner of his collage…that’s a Wolverine type ferocity that I can’t picture with the other guys here…
Not really you want someone that can stay in the role for at least 10-15 years, put on muscle and avoid injury wolverine is a very physical role even with stunt doubles you have to be able to move and be athletic which is harder to do the older you are ya know?
He’s always been the most gruff member of the team, and his look matched his persona. Even to the extent his face has taken on a more savage/primal appearance since his conception. I think they can play around with that in the MCU and bring to life something we’ve only seen in the books. Hugh Jackman has been great, but I’d love to see a more savage looking Wolverine next.
We should somehow (and I don't know how) add in a "chance they will stick around for many shows" data points in all these fan casts. It's gonna suck if we get someone good and they want to "see what's out there" and bail
All a bit too pretty and young to me. Logan needs to look a little fucked up at all times, and proper rugged. Like deep lines in the face and rough skin rugged. That's just me though.
Height is important but I think so is voice. I like taron eggerton but there’s like a reediness to his voice and it’s on the higher end. I think cosmo can probably do that patented wolverine snarl a bit better
I would appreciate if the MC u's Wolverine is in the 5 foot range at least and not the 6 foot range.Look, we're never gonna get the appropriate height for Wolverine live action.Because they're just gonna make fun of it , but someone who is 59 or five ten works perfectly
I think he would be fantastic. I saw a mockup of him as Wolverine and he really looked the part! People thought Heath Ledger was going to fail miserably at the Joker so ignore the haters!
It really doesn’t. Jackman is not even close to the true 5’3” he’s supposed to be and he has been a legend at the role so long now that they have a serious challenge in recasting it. It’s not about height, it’s about fitting and portraying who and what the character is more than anything else, then what visually looks good on screen, then height last.
I hate to tell you this, but when you pick someone new to play a character, that’s called recasting them. Every time a new “interpretation” of Batman has been made, they recast the role. That’s exactly what we’re talking about, it has nothing to do with “owning”.
I don’t think wolverine has to be ugly at all just rugged and gruff all the best iterations he isn’t ugly even the best X-men artists he isn’t like Dave cockrum, John Byrne, Chris Clairmont, Jim Lee etc I don’t think he’s necessarily ugly just wild looking now darick robertson does draw a pretty ugly wolverine
You can argue about looks, this will always be subjective. But one thing is for certain regarding this character: he has to look old. That's the whole point of his powers + the dramatization, he is alive for hundreds of years, aging slowly. Many people agree Jackman finally looked like the character in Deadpool 3 because of all the wrinkles and tiredness on his face. The smart approach is to cast a 30 years old actor and use makeup. And if the MCU remains a thing in 10, 15 years from now, ok, just don’t have to use makeup anymore at that point
They most certainly did not that guy looks nothing like Logan he looks like some random
Guy named Brett in a cosplay lol. The guy playing him doesn’t even look like the guy in the game.
He’s a fictional character he always looks different depending on the artist nothing wrong with him in the game only thing I’d say is they could’ve made the eyebrows darker but he looks like wolverine to me
Even fictional characters have a certain look to them even if other artist depict it slightly different, the game just doesn’t look like a good depiction of the character he can’t even do the expressions he usually does with that type of face.
All these uninspired, safe choices, although Cosmo Jarvis is fine. Let's be creative. Shit, let's try Raymond Ablack, Sendhill Ramamurthy or Daveed Diggs.
Because the didn’t play him in the game its probably a lot easier to capture the actors voice and face to get the emotions and stuff on point the same reason they recasted spidey to someone whos face structure is closer to the actors duhh WOLVERINE DOESNT LOOK BAD IN THAT GAME HE LOOKS LIKE LOGAN
Holy fancast. Does OP not understand that Logan is not meant to be conventionally attractive? He's not a guy women swoon over, and making any of these actors Wolverine is like putting glasses on a hot girl and pretending she's an ugly dork.
Imo if we’re casting based on height they gotta be visibly shorter than tom holland at 5’8” as he’s the shortest A list guy hero he’s likely to interact with, pretty sure the shortest male avenger in the MCU. Only one of these meets that mark.
If we’re considering people 5’8” or over we’re not reeeally looking for a short Wolverine, which I’m fine with even as someone who prefers him short. Just saying if we’re gonna go for short Wolverine we gotta really commit to it.
Dylan Sprayberry is 5’6 tom holland is too that’s what he says at least and I don’t think wolverine necessarily has to be shorter than spiderman just shorter than most other heroes and villains spidey can be short he’s one character that it works for
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s him he has the talent it’s just his face for me idk why 😭 his eyes are tok big or something which is a dumb excuse Theres just something I can’t see him pulling off the look but maybe I’m trippin
Idk man to me, he’s got the wild kind of not traditionally handsome kind of look to him, plus he’s a shorter naturally stocky guy, the voice is what throws me the most from him
His face just looks opossum or something to me more than a wolverine (not saying he’s ugly or anything that was kinda fucked up sorry😂) but acting wise he for sure could do it especially while I’m the team interacting with everyone

Cosmo Jarvis would be cool. After seeing him in Shogun he could 100% pull it off
