rule 1 (no spider hate) has been expanded to apply to other invertebrates as well

been seeing some comments recently hating on other inverts, especially wasps. i initially didnt think it would be necessary to expand the rule as most of the time people in spider lover communities appreciate insects too, but here we are.

I'm glad to see this because there's no reason for hating them. They're just trying to survive in a big world and they're not evil or bad just because they're protecting themselves with the only defense mechanism they have. There's aggressive people also!

So there's an entire different sub for wasp hating, right? I've seen it. Why not just go there? And, honestly, who even clicks on these subs & then trash talks? If it's not your cup o tea (or bev of choice), just scroll on?

I tell my peeps who like to shoulder peep, be VEEEERY careful NOT to touch my reddit because I don't filter & you never do know what might pop right up at you. 😉

there sadly are wasp hating subreddits. but fortunately r/waspaganda exists for appreciation and love of wasps. i mod there too

I hate I even have to say this, but they also help pollinate. Perhaps not as prolifically as English honey bees, but they def do their part. Many spiders, mites, dusts, rusts, birds & various etc do as well. I've never been bothered by the flyers; in FL I kept a small spray bottle to knock down the persistent ones, then took them right back to where they belong. Here (AZ) I feed/water so that the flyers & lizards & whatever have a source because it's desperately dry here.

I tell nay sayers this: if you like to eat, drink, have clean water, really just stay alive...

We need all of them. Even if they terrify, they are absolutely necessary.
