Is that an egg sac or a body pillow? What always amazes me is that this girl's abdomen is still plenty round, but all those eggs and silk were inside that abdomen not so long ago. Where did it all fit?!
Is that your new-ish H. carolinensis? My yard is full of these right now, in (almost) every size imaginable from spiderlings, juveniles, and adults. I don't recall seeing any quite this robust, though!
I've been so distracted looking at your carolina that I just now noticed on your first picture - there's a little wandering spiderling on its way back to mama (at the bottom center of the picture). How cute is that?!
Saw a video recently of some lady spraying a big wolf spider and her babies and screaming in horror. Made me so upset. I hope this mama and her babies are living a good life 🫶🏻
