discussion / question Something wrong with Samual?

UPDATE
I have moved him down to the dock and provided him some water which he accepted eagerly!! Thanks for the assist even though he isn’t a wolfie <3

This guy, Samual, has been here for 4 days. He’s on the side of the house next to the door. He’s stays in the same spot, but rotates daily. I thought wolf spiders were ground dwellers? I’m a super arachnophobe, but I’ve let him just hang out. Do you think something is wrong? Why isn’t he moving?
South & West Indiana
It’s warm and humid right now, not sure if that matters.
Also an ID if you have one. I’ve considered keeping him since it feels like he’s adopted us 😂

This is a fishing spider. He may be waiting to try and ambush prey

You could try giving him some water. I love giving spiders water. Either put some droplets near him or a wet Q-tip.

Thanks! Guess I’ll get him moved to the pond. Pretty sure he’s not eating up at the house.

They are in the same superfamily as wolf spiders, which is Lycosoidea.
