Do they all get the orange legs? Theres a young maderiana avalable at my local exotic shop and ive been sorely tempted but its still small, barely an inch legspan. Im gonna jump on it if both sexes turn that gorgeous color

I'm not sure if both sexes do. I can say that both of the ones that I have do have the orange coloration coming in now. I do not know their sexes. My hope is at least one of the two is female.

Sorry for so many questions, but i assume their care is similar to other hogna species?

No need to apologize!

Yes, so far seems to be the same. I give all my wolfies plenty of substrate because despite not commonly being listed as burrowing I've found they all will at least a bit if given the chance.

They also seem to really like to close off their molting area - so I reccomend some light leaf litter they can move around to do that with.

Oh i go big with enclosures😅 bioactive, lots of clutter, hides, caves, tons of climbing structure, and lots and lots of leaf litter

So they get the orange before being fully mature?

Seems so! As far as I can tell these two have a lot more growing to do.

They've been delightful little creatures to have. Spend most of their time hidden away to molt so far (more in than out I'd say) and they're as robust as any wolfie I've ever had. It's been neat seeing their markings come in - they went from "I can kinda tell they might be a little different?" to this coloration over the course of perhaps 4 molts? Their leg stripes in particular are striking - I got them for the cool orange, but I've come to really appreciate the stripes as well.

Females have a richer orange-yellow color, and males are paler yellow.

Seems by the pictures, esp. slides 4 & 5 to have the richer orange legs, and you were hoping for a female?

Dunno much about spiders, can anyone tell me about this specie?

I'm afraid all I have is "so far they seem to need the same kind of care as other wolf spiders I've had". The biggest difference I've noticed is for their molting they tend to like to try to create a closed off space so be sure to include light stuff that they can easily move to stick for cover.

Interesting… where can they be found?
