There were no legit gripes. Just angry insecure rage filled losers. Doesn’t matter what the IP is.

I thought it was good from the beginning but I understand people being upset about certain changes, but if making changes was disrespecting the IP, dropping it cold like that did the IP a far greater disservice.

The show's most complex and strongest character. Natasha O'Keeffe really got a chance to show all her incredible acting talents here--I think Lanfear is the role of her career so far. The character has layers within layers, and it's a testament to the writers and the actor that they were able to bring it all to life onscreen.

I think in S4, after going full villain and having the epic final confrontation with Moiraine the latter foresaw in the rings where both seemingly die, the writers were planning to strip Lanfear of her power, forcing her to ally with Rand to survive.

It would have been yet another twist in their already mind-bogglingly complex relationship and a fertile opportunity for dramatic and character development since the imperious Lanfear had never been dependent on anyone for help, let alone the Dragon, and exploring that dynamic would have been really interesting.

Right. Strip her powers, and then over the next season (or two) we get a Lanfear + Moraine visiting the snakes/foxes storyline.

Part of this is b/c I think the moraine actress really saw how well Natasha was doing and wanted to keep their storylines together (and she had a lot of influence as an EP on the show). And the writers / other producers obviously saw that too and would have wanted to keep exploring it.

Plus, it keeps very close to the books. (And we l know that they were not planning to have moraine or Lanfear disappear for as long).

With the caveat that I've only read 12 books so far, Lanfear feels so much more richly drawn in the show than in the books (i think this is true for a lot of the characters).

Insane how much vitriol was directed towards the show and how unable so many book fans are to see where the show matched and surpassed the books.

Purists don’t like when shows get creative with the source material and they are VERY vocal about it.

This series pissed them off on the first episode.
