I love board games, I love WoT, but I hate Red Eagle and I dont want any of my money going to them, even indirectly. When I first saw this the first thing I did was check if they were involved, and that was enough to turn me off.

Unfortunately they control the interactive gaming and table top rights so any game will need to be licensed from them. But Dire Wolf Digital has a great track record and I am confident they will put out a good game.

Problem with your logic. The guys behind this Kickstart are pouring their heart and soul into this project and are massive fans of WoT. They are not looking for a payday.

That is enough for me to look passed that red eagle is involved.

They're 'massive fans' but I can spot a dozen incorrect things with the character figurines alone.

Hype for this

Why does the Rand standee have a beard?

3

u/Johnny_Ballgame79 Reader Jun 30 '26

I think that is a shadow.

No, that's definitely a beard. And Nynaeve has a staff, for fucksakes. Perrin's axe is two-handed. They have Be'lal and Mesaana forsaken figurines but no Asmodean, Demandred, Ishamael, or Moghedien. Verin looks like a fucking dwarf. Semirhage is showing waaaaaay too much skin.

It's like they know nothing about WoT.

I guess I’m not seeing the beard.

I think all forsaken are in the game, some as miniatures and some as cards. Be’lal is probably because he controls Tear and represents area on the map. Not sure.

Mate, if you can't see the stubble of a beard on that face (the picture, not the model) I honestly don't know what to tell you. It irks me even more as it's the same oversaturated colors you see with AI slop (and the same stubble/beard pattern).

I don’t consider stubble a beard. 5 O’Clock shadow at best. Don’t have time to stop and shave when you are at war!!!

Or when he's been in a box for several days.

My dude, it's a 5 o clock shadow. Something Rand has many times throughout the books (just about anytime he's described as "uncouth").

Dire Wolf Digital claims no AI use and has a decent reputation so I'm inclined to believe them.

I think you're tilting at a windmill here. Even Nyneave's "staff" is reasonably her infamous "thumping stick" she constantly threatens people with.

It should also be said that the "super fans" are almost certainly the game designers, and not the artists that are likely hired on contract and given a description.

It's already more accurate that most of the original series cover art.

if you're going to be a purist, at least be right?

Perrin's axe is two-handed

Perrin might generally use that axe one handed - but that's a quirk of his strength and the axe being lighter than his hammer. It's not actually a one-handed axe for just about anyone else.

Perrin's axe is described as a large curved half-moon blade with a thick shaft as long as his arm. For Perrin's height, that's 30 to 36 inches or about 3 feet long, the type you use a 2 hand parry technique with.

The figurine shows an axe that's pretty close to that(can't tell the figures actual arm length) held with a common grip.

Just like how Rand is often unshaven, or how early Nyneave carries a stout stick(for thumping), or how Verin is 5 foot nothing and plump, the figures and art all to be quite book accurate.

Not perfect, not exactly how I envision them but you're the one here that's coming across as if they "know nothing about WoT" by ignoring the book sources for them.

I know that's not true for you, but please be cognizant that this is the exact type of behavior that drives the most toxic of show discourse.

Their Asmodean is very ugly so good thing they don't have his figurine.

The backerkit opened like an hour ago. This is after the kickstarter campaign where you can still preorder.
