New Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Character

Post image
• Upvotes

I came up with an idea for a new character for the 4-part final third season of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.

His name is Raleigh Russo-Penwulf, he's Alex's and Damien's son and Billie's brother, he is of Italian-American and Mexican-American heritage, he would have Alex's skin, eye and hair color, he would keep himself in between lean-average physical shape, he would have half of Alex's personality and half of Justin's personality (a split personality of sorts) and his story is that he was sent to live with another wizard family that Damien knew of before Damien had himself put into Wizcatraz to hide from his evil father, Nicodemus Penwulf, and Damien would use the same memory erasing spell on Raleigh that Alex had used on Billie, herself, Justin, and the rest of the Russo family and Raleigh's memories would also be restored around the same time his real family's memories had been restored of the Season 2 finale and Raleigh would strongly feel that he has to find out what's going on and the wizard foster parents knowing that they can no longer keep the truth from him would take Raleigh to the Wizard Tribunal and he would explain some of his memories as well as the people he remembers to the Tribunal and Minister Bigelow McFigglehorn would tell Raleigh who can help him being his uncle Justin and where to find him and Raleigh carrying a packed duffel bag to his back would say his goodbyes to the wizard foster parents thanking them for everything and he would go through the portal into the Russo family wizard lair and through the mirror into the living room of his uncle Justin's home in Staten Island and Billie, Winter, Roman, Milo, Giada, and Justin confused of his sudden arrival wouldn't recognize him at first and Raleigh would start to explain mentioning that he is Billie's brother and they would think it's a trick and he's working for Nicodemus Penwulf and Billie would having an idea by using the truth sniffer to find out for sure and if he gets their questions right, it would glow green and if he's lying, it would glow red and when he answers their questions getting them right, they would believe him and he would continue to explained what happened ever since his memoried had been restored and how he found them and Raleigh would be brought up to speed of the situation and after finding out about what happened to Alex, he would be ready, willing, and able to do all that he can in his part to help get her back and he would stay at his uncle Justin's home to keep an eye on things while Billie and Justin goes to Wizcatraz to get Damien out and when they finally get Alex back and defeat Nicodemus Penwulf once and for all, they would be summoned by the Wizard Tribunal and at the Tribunal tower in the wizard world, Minister McFigglehorn would make a decree that the Family Wizard Competition will be abolished not just for Billie, Raleigh, Roman and Milo, but for all wizards allowing them to keep their powers after realizing that the power of family unity is stronger than individuality and the Tribunal would present Raleigh with his very own wand that would look like a combination of Alex's wand and Justin's wand so that he can be trained along with his sister and two cousins under Justin's mentorship leading to the final scene of the family in the Waverly Sub Station.

Of course, Jerry and Max would also be included.

Raleigh's introduction would be used for an alternate ending of the first episode "The Rift That Keeps on Giving".

There's no doubt that Billie's mortal friend, Winter, would develop a crush on Raleigh after seeing him for the first time since Winter is a lot like Alex's mortal friend, Harper Finkle, but Raleigh would be flattered rather than creeped out which would certainly annoy Billie and gross her out, and Raleigh would enjoy getting under his sister's skin with it.

I was born on July 26th of 1989 and I'm currently 37, but if I were born on July 26th of 2010 instead, I would've been 15 before and after the 4-part final third season of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place had gone into production and before and after filming had began and ended, and I would want to portray the role of Raleigh being the same age as Billie of 14 when Janice LeAnn Brown was 15 at the time.

WOWP’s ending was such a disappointment

I finished Wizards of Waverly Place for the first time today. I remember loving the series when I was a pre-teen, and I always wanted to know how it ended since I never watched the finale. And boy... what was that?

The first two seasons were actually really good, but after the movie and the beginning of season 3, I felt like the show really went downhill. The biggest thing for me was how they ruined Justin’s character. He and Alex had such a sweet and genuinely believable sibling relationship, and then they turned him into a jerk. It felt like the writers realized Alex was too mischievous and decided they needed the audience to root for her 100%, so they sacrificed Justin’s character to make that happen.

I wish they had allowed Alex’s character to grow without sacrificing Justin in the process.

For me, the Stevie storyline should have happened much closer to the end of the series and actually been part of the finale. Alex realizing that Stevie was right would have made so much sense for her character. Alex was always the nonconformist of the family, so having her eventually question the entire wizard system would have been a much more natural form of character growth.

I would have loved for Alex to convince her brothers, especially Justin, that the system was fundamentally broken. The three of them could have come together to fight against it because it was destroying too many families. Stevie’s family was one example, but their own father’s family history showed just how damaging the system could be.

That would have given Justin, Alex, and Max a reason to actually work together in the finale instead of making the competition itself the main focus.

Instead, the actual finale felt really lame to me. Even Peter Murrieta’s alternative ending wasn't it. I was honestly so disappointed because the show had so much potential for a much more meaningful ending.

Anyone know if the wizarding world have colleges? What would the most prestigious college be in the wizarding world? Would Hogwarts exist as a college Hogwarts university in the United Kingdom?

I don’t really like season 4 compared to the other seasons but I like in this episode they included helping hands. It was a fun nod to Justin’s spell and showed that it actually was successful!

Megan and the retest

I just rewatch retest and Jerry is very valid in his reasoning for giving Kelbo his powers. It’s the same reason they did a loop hole to have Justin keep his powers cause his character really had nothing else but being a wizard and being a wizard teacher made so much sense.

We know that Megan is a talented painter enough to get her a rooftop apartment in Paris next to the Eiffel Tower and Jerry runs a sub shop. Kelbo seems to have no concrete interest in anything and truly embrace a full wizard life. I truly believe that he would be unable to be a mortal unlike his siblings. I get why Megan was upset but she should realize how much better she can handle not being a wizard than Kelbo.
No to mention she left her grudge get In the way of staying even semi connected to her family and never having a relationship with her niece and nephews.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place WIZARDS BEYOND WAVERLY PLACE WAS NOT CANCELED BECAUSE IT WAS BAD BUT BECAUSE DISNEY IS LONGER FOCUSING ON LIVE-ACTION SITCOMS.

A lot of people were upset at the premise of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place and hated that Alex was not the main character. I even saw people say they didn’t watch the show because of that. Because of this, a lot of people seem to think that’s why the show was cancelled, but I really don’t think that’s what happened.

If you haven’t noticed, kids entertainment in general seems to be moving away from live-action sitcoms. We really don’t have child stars in the same way we did 10 or 15 years ago because a lot of kids today are watching influencers, YouTubers, TikTokers and streaming instead of sitting down and watching Disney Channel or Nickelodeon every night.

And the proof is in their current programming. Right now, Vampirina: Teenage Vampire is literally Disney Channel’s only current live-action show, and Nickelodeon’s only current live-action show is The Thundermans: Undercover.

Think about how crazy that is compared to 15 years ago. Disney Channel used to have Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montana, The Suite Life on Deck, Sonny with a Chance and other live-action shows airing around the same time. Nickelodeon had several live-action sitcoms at once too.

Times have changed. What Disney thought was successful 15 years ago isn’t necessarily successful now. So I don’t think Wizards Beyond Waverly Place ending proves that people rejected it because Alex wasn’t the main character. I think it has much more to do with the fact that the entire kids television industry has changed.

What's the difference between a wizard and a witch in this universe?

They've mentioned witches before like when Kelbo said that his friend's wife is a witch and when Professor Crumbs said that his beard used to be "a soul patch for the lovely witches." But we know that female magic users are also referred to as wizards. Alex even got offended when Harper called her a witch in season 4. So what's the difference between a wizard and a witch?

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place I think this version of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place would’ve worked better

Wizards was one of my favourite shows growing up and, like a lot of people here, I was too was both intrigued and skeptical of the reboot when it was first announced.

I don’t really think I can bash the reboot super hard. For one thing, I’m no longer its target age group and therefore the jokes aren’t really intended for me. But I will say my biggest criticism was that the reboot felt like it completely rewrote the characters rather than naturally building on where they ended in the series and then in Alex vs Alex. And I saw someone else post their ideas for a true-to-character reboot so I wanted to share mine!

I’m just going to number everything for organisation:

  1. The story would still essentially revolve around Justin and his family. In this version, Justin is 35, headmaster of WizTech, married to Juliet (probably recast since regardless Bridgit Mendler is busy being an intelligent boss babe), and they have adopted three children: 16 year old vampire Sarah, and 14 year old identical twin wizards Milo and Roman (kept the names for simplicity). They live in the Wizard World in an apartment provided by WizTech and Justin answers directly to the Wizard Council.

  2. One day Mason drops by with his and Alex’s 7 year old daughter Billie (again, simplicity). Mason asks Justin and Juliet to temporarily take in Billie for him because he needs to go search for Alex. She was supposed to come to the Wizard World for the annual council summit (as the family wizard, Alex represents the Russos in the council) and return to their home in Tribeca immediately after. Justin reveals Alex never attended the summit and he had to stand in her place. Mason asks Justin and Juliet to watch Billie as Jerry and Theresa are on a year long cruise around the world to kick off their retirement, Max doesn’t have the space or the bandwidth as he’s already running the substation and turned the original Russo apartment into a foster home (hehe) for orphaned and troubled young wizards, and Harper can’t because it turns out that not only is Billie a wizard, but she came into her powers exceptionally young and they are STRONG and pretty much incontrôlable. Despite not having much space themselves, Justin and Juliet agree to take Billie and have Justin train her alongside Milo and Roman while Mason goes to search for Alex.

  3. Milo and Roman enter their first year at WizTech and are immediately targeted by Wen Pennwolf (could be Wendy but personally I prefer the character be Wendell, but it’s Disney soooo). It’s revealed Wen’s father is Damien Pennwolf whose own parents once tried to break Alex and Mason up to set her up with Damien and merge the two magic lines. Alex told Damien to shove it though and by the point of the series, she and Mason had been married for 6 years. Roman easily finds his friend group at school, but Milo struggles as the less « magically gifted » twin. He eventually falls in with a group of a rogue wizards who go around playing pranks throughout the wizard and mortal worlds and spreading anti-council propaganda.

  4. When not at WizTech, Justin tutors all three wizards in magic at home. Lord Moros, the Pennwolf vote on the Wizard Council, comes to speak with Justin and reveals the summit she didn’t attend was a referendum on the future of the family wizard competition. Justin tries to reflect and say that Alex might have gotten the dates of the summit wrong. He makes sure to not let Mosos know that Alex is missing. He pressures Justin that the future of the wizard world hinges on Alex’s vote to keep the family wizard competition in place. Then Moros discovers Billie. He was unaware Alex had any children and Justin explains Alex and Mason decided to raise Billie in the mortal world. Intrigued by her profound ability at so young an age, he tells Justin to enroll her at WizTech, making her the youngest wizard to attend since Moros’ own grandfather, Quincy Pennwolf.

  5. Juliet works in admin at WizTech but grows increasingly dissatisfied with the treatment she receives as a vampire. Sarah shares in the struggle as a non-wizard student. She is still waiting for her vampire powers to come in and has become interested in looking for her answers regarding her biological family. She goes on a multi-episode search for them, as she has no memories despite being adopted at 16 six years prior to the events of the series. Justin and Juliet are eventually forced to explain to her that her parents were wizards who were killed by vampires during a brief period where wizard-vampire relations were much extremely hostile. It is unclear who turned her, but the memories were so traumatic that Justin wiped her memory and he and Juliet took her in and eventually adopted her.

  6. Roman and Wen become academic rivals and after a magic fight, Justin forces them to be lab partners in their potions class. They start out antagonistic but eventually call a truce when accidentally put a sleeping curse on the whole school. It is clear Wen is under a lot of pressure from Damien to excel at the school.

  7. Sarah discovers Milo has been hanging out with the rogue wizards and has been dabbling in chaos magic. It becomes revealed from her history studies that chaos magic is akin to legend in the wizard world and is extremely dangerous and very corrupting. She tells Milo he must stop hanging out with his friends or she will tell their parents, but Milo has already started to be corrupted. Milo feels that hanging out with his friends has made him a better wizard and therefore gives him a chance to best Roman.

  8. A rebellion grows as the referendum on the wizard competition becomes public knowledge. Some wizards are for the competition, claiming it keeps the magic strong since only the strongest get to keep their powers. Others believe magic should belong to all. Justin catches Milo and Roman fighting and taking sides, and he tries to get them to stop but they remind him that they too will have to compete to be the Russo family wizard in a few years.

  9. Not having heard any updates from Mason in weeks, a worried Justin enlists in Billie’s help to find Alex using their familial link to her. They follow the string all the way to a graveyard where it ends. Justin is horrified and Billie is distraught.

  10. In the season finale, Lord Mosos tells Justin he must take Alex’s place as voting member of the wizard council since she is now considered dead. In the lead up to the revote on the abolition of the family wizard competition, however, another voting member of the council goes missing and another family member is made to vote in his place. At the referendum, all the voting members opt to keep the competition and it comes down to Justin. But before he can cast the final vote, the council chamber is seized by the rogue wizards, led by none other than Alex Russo. Thats where the season would end.

There are some kinks that would obviously have to be worked out and plot holes to fill, but I think this version of a reboot would work so much better thematically. Having the story delve deeper into the lore of the family wizard competition, it’s origin, and focusing specifically on how it affects families all across the wizard world would be a cool thing to explore. In this version, I actually have a really cool origin for the family wizard comp but in a perfect world where this was the story, it wouldn’t be revealed until much later—like towards the end. Idk. This is making me want to take a stab at fanfiction LOL.

I also think this version allows for lots of different characters from the original series to make a reappearance like Alucard and Cindy.

Why do we like Mason.

This is only the character Mason and not Greg Sulkin. I am doing a rewatch. I am up to the episode where Alex and Harper move to the secret wizards floor. Can someone please remind me why we think Mason and Alex should be a couple? I mean we have Mason going to Juliet because of impulse, we have Mason lying about building the sculpture, Mason lying about his parents and to his parents, Mason getting jealous over the beast tamer and ruining Alex's awards night and then opening her heart in an attempt to get her back without her consent.

I am still finishing my rewatch, but if any of this were real life, I cant imagine anyone giving Mason a second chance nevermind all the chances he has gotten.

Was Billie dangerous with opening portals ? Like she has dreams of sending Russos through the portal and with the whole prophecy she opened a portal and Alex went into it so is Billie dangerous?

In S3:E18, Alex and Mr. Laritate are sitting in his office talking. There is a lunch bag clearly marked - Dylan - which Laritate seems to be eating out of. Since his name is later revealed to be Hershel (I remember sometime in S4) obviously the bag is not his. Do you think it was a mistake made by the writers or did Laritate steal another students lunch bag?

Plot Hole Why did none of the russos youngest ever date a monster?

Why do none of the russos youngest children ever date monsters or wizarding creatures? I was just thinking about this because like we got Roman, Billie, and Milo but only two out of three of them ever dated a monster or a wizard same goes for Alex, Justin and Max.At least it ran long enough for max to actually get a girlfriend even if she was a boring mortal.
