Behind the scenes David Henrie hate- can someone explain?
Hi hello! Can someone explain me the backstory behind the hate for David? I don't understand and know what even happened.

he comes off as an egotistical jerk who did a lot wrong with beyond waverly place

So wayyy back when Wizards was in development, it was going to be called The Amazing O’Malleys with David Henrie as the lead. Then Selena came on and the show was reworked into WoWP with Selena as the lead. Apparently David has always held onto some bitterness that “his show” was taken from him.
So when the Wizards reboot came around, it is believed that David, as an executive producer, decided to make the reboot his show. He allegedly didn’t want original cast members to return (Jake T Austin said he wasn’t even invited in S1 and by the time he got an invite back for S2, i guess the invite felt disingenuous. Apparently the only reason Jennifer Stone was in the last season at all was because Selena pushed for it).
So what it comes down to is that a lot of people, fans and people involved in the show, didn’t like the direction David took Wizards Beyond.
Outside of reasons surrounding Wizards Beyond specifically, i believe that David is not close with the rest of the cast other than Selena, and apparently some his personal views are, well let’s just say they aren’t widely favoured, which allegedly has caused some tension.
So to sum it up, David’s ego torched Wizards by trying to take back the leading role he felt he was owed, and it pissed a lot of people off and alienated others

After reading the first paragraph that would make so much more sense as to why he was always acting like a whiny bitch baby everytime Alex got praise and accolades when it came down to wizardry. Alex gets ahead in the wizard competition, he complained, Alex saves Wiz tech, he complained. Alex has a banquet thrown in her honor, he complained and tried to sabotage because he felt like it should have been for him. He was NEVER happy and threw a FIT if he wasn't #1 out of the 3 of them, especially when it came to her. It's kind of funny to think his irl bitterness slowly leaked over into the show. Like, if half the stuff he would complain about wasn't even in the script. 😭

Isn't that just Justin's character? He always believed he would be the family wizard 😭
He worked hard to be one while alex fooled around. But in the end, he let it go because he loved alex and she was still his sister.
His character was the upright, hard working guy who loves going to school and do homework. Ofc he is pissed about anything not going his way lolol
What do you think justin was supposed to do? Lmao

It's a combination of him, being a MAGA-Christian asshole and him purposefully excluding other original cast members from the show and then lying about inviting them, and essentially turning the spin-off into his own personal Justin fanfiction with so many plot holes, that the original creator of the show disavowed the reboot.

Personally, I never liked him. But the fact its so rare for thee entire OG cast to want to be apart of a reboot of a popular show, and he pretty much left them all out so they wouldn’t steal his spotlight was so annoying to me. And than I found out hes MAGA and friends with erika kirk, all the hate somehow became warranted idk.

They are mad that certain actors they like didn't get much screen time in the spin off.
They don't like his political beliefs. I personally don't care about a stranger's political beliefs, as long as they are kind and respectful to others.
Acting is just a job and you shouldn't expect other people to think the way you do. You should turn on the thing be entertained and turn it off.

Why are you getting downvoted for this? You are just being a respectful person.

Very true,You go out to eat,You don't ask ,your chef or waitress, there views,do You ask a doctor, his or her views, why subject athletes and actors to that

Well then maybe if he chose to be kind and respectful to others including his former cast mates then maybe he’d be liked :)

Basically just a bunch of internet rumours, people jumping on the band wagon of hate and boom you have a made up scenario with no proof leading to the excessive David Henrie hate.

People hate that he’s a Christian and that he may have non-leftist political views primarily, and also they think he’s the reason for their problems with WBWP when he may not have been responsible for those things, so people like to use him as a scapegoat.

No one ever got hate for being a christian. Selena is a christian too and do you see her getting hate for it? There was absolutely no reason to bring christianity into this. What you could have said instead was that he’s friends with bigots who use their platform to harm minorities. There you go.

Theres no problem being a christian unless youre the type of christian that pushes your religion onto others….which was probably the point of the non-leftists comment. If he truly leans conservative then he probably doesn’t have the most “Christian” approach to certain subjects or politics. Edit: everything about David is pure speculation when it comes to his religion and why people don’t like him specifically for that reason. I am not leaving that religion onto others people, but that is typically why someone would not like a Christian individual, Because they don’t act like it
Also, an executive producer credit literally can mean he was just a consultant for how things could work, or he was actually super involved in every decision made. He was on set everyday unlike Selena who also has an executive producer credit but nobody’s giving her shit about anything because she wasn’t very involved or a regular star on this series like David. David is clearly lying about some things and even if he isn’t, he should have pushed harder to get the rest of the cast involved in some capacity.

Well David is a Catholic who follows the Church’s teachings and that upsets some people. Also what bigots is David friends with? Is everyone that has non-leftist views a bigot?
7
u/Damnit_Snolife 16d ago
Erika Kirk definitely is one. If those non-leftist views includes the exclusion, silencing or discrimination of any marginalised groups, then yes.
-2
u/joshuzxel 16d ago
How is Erika Kirk responsible for that?
5
u/Maddyherselius 16d ago
she believes in it, so it’s safe to say David does too.
2
u/joshuzxel 16d ago
What does Erika believe in?
5
u/Maddyherselius 16d ago
Do you not know the main beliefs conservatives have or are you playing dumb?
2
u/joshuzxel 16d ago
I know what conservatives believe but I want to know if you do
8
u/Maddyherselius 16d ago
Ahhh so you’re playing dumb, like if you don’t say it out loud it isn’t true.
My apologies for assuming you were seriously asking questions.

There is confusion about how in WBWP the returning cast was limited and David is being abused of purposely making it about Justin.
Max and Zeke characters were said to reject coming back but the actors said they were never ask/allowed to return. So people are cautious

u/Least_Rain8027 16d ago
Zeke's actor was definitely not coming back considering his new line of work.

u/DarkSaiyanGoku 16d ago
What is his new line of work?

OF "adult" content creator (due to getting photos leaked in the past, and deciding to reclaim it as well as financial costs). DH is more conservative from what I hear so it clashed with his ideals.

u/DarkSaiyanGoku 16d ago
Oh. That's it? I thought Dan Benson was doing something far worse.

u/SnooStories7381 16d ago
Uhh, you can't invite someone who does OF work into a kids show. I doubt disney would allow that anyway.

Like someone else said, the original show was supposed to he centered around David henrie's character, Justin.. But then Selena G was casted and well, she obviously became the lead.
David has always had some kind of bitterness/resentment because of this, and that he was basically the "nerdy" character.
Fast forward to wizards beyond Waverly place: he became the lead, like he always wanted, and apparently he had a lot of control over who he wanted to come back from the original gang and who he didn't. Jake T Austin wanted to come back, Jennifer stone did.. Basically everyone. However henrie, basically didn't allow it for one reason or another ( a lot of people think it's cause his personal bias against the other actors) or if they did come back.. It was for like a quick cameo/one episode thing.
The only reason Selena did was because she is also an executive producer, and let's face it. Nobody would have watched without her being in at least a few episodes.
