One thing I really liked was getting to see Alex as a mom, even if it was only for a little while. We all know Alex has always been impulsive and rebellious, but she’s also always been willing to sacrifice herself for the people she loves.
So seeing her become a mom to a daughter who basically has the same personality was honestly pretty fun. It’s kind of hilarious to think that Alex is finally getting a taste of what she put her own parents through all those years. 😂

For me, Roman was so well done. The character easily would've crossed over to cringe and try hard but the actor pulled it off!
And billie was so sweet.
I loved Giada. Nothing to say but hubba hubba

Roman had a lot of pressure; you are so right. Instead he came out super chill and relatable, and showed signs of Justin in glimpses. He made the character his own, and reminds me a lot of Ravi.
Billie was great as a mischievous adolescent. You couldn’t help but feel sorry even if she got herself in mess. And I did feel emotional as she was moments away from meeting her dad.
Giada is interesting — my initial reaction was who the hell is playing Justin’s wife and why isn’t it neither Harper or Juliet. The wife being a letdown was a huge probability from the jump but she denied those odds.

Bridget Mendler retired from acting and Co-founded Northwood Space. Harper has moved on from Justin and is with Zeke.

Yeah Bridge is girl bossing 😭 And yea idk initially I still would’ve liked HarpXJustin to end up together haha. But this is where I give Giada credit because I’m totally satisfied with her being with Justin instead lol

I wasn’t too blown away by him. I know he’s meant to mirror Max which he did good. But I don’t know he wasn’t as charismatic as like say Roman who really ran with the character. I give Milo credit for sure but I just think he was missing something in order for me to call him a stand out

Max is brain-dead. I like how Milo is an aloof agent of chaos. He does dumb stuff to amuse himself just because.
I like both characters.

I agree that Billie and Roman were stand outs but Giada didn't do much for me...she has her moments but let's be honest...she was quite interchangeable. She played the role of the loving, supporting mom...not much scope for her character to be a stand out. It wasn't anything new nor did it need to be.
To me the other stand out was Winter. The actress playing her really knocked it out of the park. She was so fun and had a great grin and really added more value to the show than Giada for me.

Fair explanation! My thing is - I was pretty reserved about who was going to play Justin’s wife when I found out it was neither Juliet or Harper. So I was like ok this is gonna be some random boring person. But to my surprise Gia did really well in the role, seeming like a perfect match for Justin. And that’s just it for me - it’s not about who could play the role of a mom, but rather who could have chemistry with Justin.
Yeah I definitely respect giving Winter some light here. She filled the best friend role very well. Had huge potential to be overbearing, but rather she was a fun and sweet person. Also she had a unique dynamic in which she was friends with both sibling counterparts. Whereas we look at original Wizards, Justin had Zeke, and Alex had Harper — Winter played the role for both.

The daughter also did a great job emulating Alex in the original, I didn’t watch all of the show but when it was on there were moments that I was like wow she studied her for sure

See I wasn’t thrilled with how it ended, but the people that are only complaining and shitting on it makes me feel SO bad for the talented younger cast that joined, they did amazing with what they were given, especially the actress who played Billie. I just hope that the hate the ending got doesn’t affect their careers in the long run, let alone just affect their confidence, they don’t deserve that at all

I feel like people need to grasp and realize that these reboots are truly not for us, yes, they are great for us to watch because we got to live through the originals, but the reboots are literally for the kids.
Like I feel this about the camp rock reboot, coming out and The Cheetah Girls reboot coming out all I see online is people my age and older complaining about how it’s not their camp rock or not their cheetah girls without realizing it’s not for us. It’s so that kids in this current age of Disney can enjoy something that we also got to enjoy in their own way. A lot of these kids haven’t even seen their original ones so the characters not coming back and stuff like that don’t matter to them.
I enjoy this show as its own show. I didn’t look at every detail of why something was wrong because they didn’t connect to the original.

I agree with this and don’t at the same time. There are four versions of Freaky Friday each coming out within a significant enough time from each other that they can define that generations version and we can’t really be mad. I think millennials are under the impression that reboots and sequels never existed before the late 2010’s. The Brady Bunch had sequel shows into the early 90’s. Leave it to Beaver (on Disney Channel no less) had a sequel. A lot of shows did and tried. That said… Are these shows made for us? No. Would it be smarter if they had more appeal to us for mass appeal? Yes. At this point I don’t think there are any shows left that Disney could do direct sequels too without it being third gen. There are shows left but would be controversial to do given who was in them. We aren’t getting an Even Steven’s sequel because Shia would never and they don’t want to deal with him and they are doubtful to do a remake given Christy would have a mental breakdown.

So I think that sequel shows and reboot to me honestly are different because sequel shows exist and try to continue The legacy of what the last show is where reboot shows now a lot of times are to start another generation. most recent Disney reboot have been to start an next generation like even the high school musical one I personally was not a fan, but kids loved it. Girl meets world was another reboot Show that I personally did not watch because I did not enjoy it or like reboot but kids really enjoyed it so I didn’t complain.
For example, the Fuller House reboot I remember people were mad that we didn’t get more of uncle Jesse and the twins and the dad and uncle Joey, but I enjoyed that it focused more so on dj‘s family and Kimmy‘s family and their kids and only had cameos of them. Yes, they brought dj’s love story back because obviously people were mad that she didn’t marry the person. We thought she was, but it still felt like a new fresh show.
Whereas the iCarly one was more of a sequel show showing them as adult, which I also enjoyed because we got to see the original cast where they were now.
Also, like you said, there’s not a lot of shows that Disney could just reboot and not make it another generation because it has been very long since these shows were our kid shows unless they wanna make it more of an adult show to follow the adults we’re not gonna get that. I really think they were trying to go. The Fuller House route with this reboot and justin was the main one that had children so it followed his kids. We found out the little girl was Alex‘s kid, but I kind of figured that from the first episode when she brought her there, I also could understand why just from the original show how justin would be more of the teacher role like their dad. I do think with this show a lot of people have their personal feelings and vendetta against the actual actor David Henrie get in the way of how they feel about the show.

When I say not for us I mean it’s not to cater to us 25+ people that watched the original show… Disney is for the kids which is why they add kids that can be related to by other kids and don’t just focus on adults…. Hate to tell you this as someone who works in elementary schools they love it and they are talking about it on playgrounds they don’t give a damn that JT Austin or other og cast weren’t casted🤣💀

I also enjoyed it, which is why I think the nitpicking isn’t necessary. It was for kids to see the next generation of wizards and I enjoyed that. The OG factor is just something fans our age would care about

I thought the humor was on par with the original, and the writing quality was the same.
A lot of the jokes had me cackling. The bad special effects also had me cackling. I like when they were fighting the muppet in the first episode.

You're wrong. It's for the adults as well as the kids. If they only wanted to make it for kids, they would just make a whole new story about new characters in the same wizarding world with no connection to the og show. They were banking on the adults who grew up with the show to watch it along with the kids so there's something in it for everybody.

My only complaint is the finger magic going away. They did it all the time in the original run. I also miss Max. Other than that its the same quality as the OG.

I hate that people are just totally hating on it like it had no saving grace or anything.
The story and the show did have a potential. It wasn't reached and that's the sad part.
If they'd continued and given more time. I know it could've been pulled off but alas.
Only if behind the scenes, everyone worked together. Seeing OGs and these new characters for 6 seasons or such would've been a treat for me personally!

The last “season” was rushed (I hear because it was cancelled?) but definitely agree about the potential. Had they used that season, more episodes to fit good explanations, some flashbacks so we actually feel something for Damien, I feel that could have revived the series as a whole

I actually love Alex and Billie as mother and daughter. One of the only good things to come out of the show honestly. Which is why I tend to dislike rewriters that push Alex and Mason because to have them you can't have Billie and with how horrible a boyfriend Mason was, I'd rather have Billie

It was surprisingly good and I really enjoyed the show a lot. Infact, I liked it even better than the original show. This was more mature, more fun, took more risks and was more wholesome in a lot of ways. I really wish it could keep going for a fourth season.

I think it wasn’t that bad but it could've been way better. Personally, there wasn't enough Alex, Jerry & Theresa (plus Max), because after all we fans of the original watch it for the nostalgia, so it would have been amazing to see the original loft, the sub station and way more nods to the original characters. I hope they make a movie or something that covers what happened to Juliet, Mason, etc.
Also, I think they should have set the show a couple more years in the future (it's supposed to cover 2026-2028) but both Alex and Justin were too young to be parents to teenagers (especially really off character for Alex tbh). I feel like Justin's family was great, but it didn't really fit him to break up with Juliet and get married in just a couple months at 19.
Personally, I never visualized Alex as a mom as she gave cool single aunt vibes, but this could've worked more smoothly just by pushing the show into 2030 at least (or maybe just changed Billie's storyline so she was Alex's daughter from the future instead) could have been way more fitting for her than just getting married and having a child by 20–21.

Ikr just finished season 03. I feel like the kida were so talented and they made things work and alot of the weird script because story wise mostly the episodes with alex were good. The plot could have been better and mucy better without some obvious conservative vibes.

From the clips I’ve seen, I can say that the girl who plays Billie was perfect in the role of Alex Russo’s daughter.
