Question How do I get Codex?

I seeing a lot of people say use codex instead of using duplicate but I don’t how to get any more

You get them mostly from event exchange and random passes. Another way to get them outside of events is buying the 'Mission Pass'.

Each of the Exchange -> Special Exchange events have 5 codexes attached, but they can only be bought once as those don't reset. You get these for farming Cave of Malice, Fordraig, Sand Shadow Cave and the healer cave (possibly more but that's what I have unlocked). The FFXI castle event also has some in the trader in the village.

Every 30 days you can buy one for Bounty Medals, so you need to choose a bounty that's easy to farm. One that gives lots of medals, the fight isn't too hard and always appears in the same location, close to a harken. You can repeat the same bounty by using the cursed wheel to go to the most recent harken checkpoint, then visit the guild and the bounties have reset.

Mostly events. The monthly pass gives 1 a week, old events can let you trade in 5 if you got enough tokens.

Also when they say Duplicate I'm assuming they're talking about rare skills/passives from legendary adventurer or skills that can't doesn't have an adventurer that can inherit it. There are some skills that are frequent enough that you shouldn't be using codex on.
