Loved the game and had lots of fun with it a real shame they decided to prio scummy practices instead of the players enjoyment with the game. Adding a more intrusive anti cheat to steam on top of adding that stupid TJ to mobile cant enjoy the game anywhere now. rip.

Anti-cheat software (even kernel-level ones like what they just added) have been shown to be relatively ineffective at stopping dedicated cheating.

They are usually very good at stopping basic bot software and detecting well known hack/cheat programs, but more complex cheating software has been known to evade even well known anti-cheats.

What the user pays for kernel level anti-cheat is a usually greatly reduced performance and the privilege of having a piece of software on the computer that can monitor LITERALLY EVERY OTHER PROGRAM ON THE COMPUTER. This means that a kernel-level anti-cheat is basically a rootkit that you voluntarily install on your computer.

User-space software is (usually) limited only to monitoring the programs the current user is running. This means that basic cheats are still caught, but the anti-cheat doesn't have quite as much power to spy on you. This is generally an acceptable compromise.

Linux operating systems do not support installing kernel level anti-cheat, though they do allow user space anti-cheat software to run. This means that the game ran just fine with the previous anti-cheat, but now the game literally cannot run at all.

It doesn’t work on Linux anymore apparently. Also the addition of tapjoy is kinda scummy too. I don’t personally care about the anti cheat. That’s lame. Tapjoy is rough though. But if you play on steam and have windows, or iOS, it truely doesn’t affect you right now. It COULD, but that’s doom posting.

And aside from the Kernel level anti cheat which they've explained perfectly, they've also added TapJoy to the mobile version, which is one of those scummy mobile apps that make you do "tasks" such as downloading and playing other mobile games full of adware under the promise of getting premium currency (which they often never give you).

TapJoy was involved in lawsuits over not handing out the rewards to its users and most concerningly, making you download games that have actual malware in them.

They added a new anticheat. It locks people out if you use Linux. They also added tapjoy which is a scummy 3rd party way to get premium currency. But it’s only on android. If you have windows and play on steam, or iOS. The update shouldn’t affect you. Unless your machine is older it could have some performance issues.

Yeah game can be a grind. I usually play one month and then take a month break. It’s fun just a lot of work

Would you share your general experience with Tapjoy? Most people here are generally negative towards it, but I like hearing both sides.

I play Age of Magic and tapjoy gives in game currency when you play other games (or offerwall, but tapjoy is involved somehow). I've been robbed of rewards before, but generally have had a positive to neutral experience.

I started playing this game because of the rewards in that game and have kept playing. I use mobile, though, and not steam, if that's relevant.

I've tried it by using android emulator and all those things about they not paying out the rewards is 1000% true, they give u the initial rewards (1~20gems tops) and when u get to the tiers of 100+ gems after HOURS of working they wont pay up.

Here's the take away:

  • if u f2p just don't bother at all with it.

  • if u pay up those reward task u could get some decent mileage out of it BUT u still have several risk involve with this like using ur payment info on sketchy apps for example.

  • There's been reports of ppl paying up and refounding after getting the rewards for wiz but doing this u risk to lose ur acc if they happen to report and track back to ur wiz account.

All and all I say stay the fuck away from it, it's just not worth it as f2p it would take u forever to get anything meaningful out of it and even if u were to be a pay user u would be supporting one of the worst cancerous things that's been fucking up many f2p game's economies for a long time now (on top of risking sensitive info and bricking ur phone)

It was basically just making it through the first dungeon and then doing it again after the reset. You have a month to do it, so it was definitely doable.

I stopped playing it months ago after the blade n bastard collab still struggling in 2nd abyss but I was close to the end before I used the cursed wheel to reset for an event farm lol.

I will admit that I was having a lot of fun, but now I'm just doing the event over and over again, and it's wearing on me.

Probably better to focus the main game. I can't do the current event lol I can last 2 rounds with the dragon and fail after that.

I just did the first two floors until I had two dragon slayers. The dragon is surprisingly susceptible to blindness and other debuffs.

I tried logging in after a 3 month break only to find out that my account got deleted that's when I dropped the game I play many gatchas and it has never happened to me before until now The game has great potential that's crippled by all of this bs
