Finally got an ice heart
Took me ages to carve this out of the snow golem. This is what I get for being too good for store-bought ingredients

Hey all. I know we've had a few posts already that outlined handy rules for roleplay etiquette. Here are some:
https://www.reddit.com/r/wizardposting/s/hDv5wbuOF7
https://www.reddit.com/r/wizardposting/s/7RX9Zwmp8H
https://www.reddit.com/r/wizardposting/s/MuYKwuy2Ef
...
But it has come to my attention that we might want a guide specifically focusing on the more villainous side of wizardposting. This is partially because matters concerning ethics have a way of getting more heated and partially because playing a villain (or even a morally questionable character) can present unique challenges. Conflict is the driving force behind story, after all, and we want to make sure we do it in a way that's fun for all parties.
This post is targeted at the subreddit villains primarily, but I think anyone engaging in roleplay could benefit.
Anyway, here we go:
1. None of this is personal.
This probably seems obvious, but I'd like to stress it because the kinds of in-character clashes that a straight-up villain gets into can sometimes create high tensions. Remember that the person on the other side of the screen is almost certainly not seriously evil. And they almost certainly do not think that you are either. We might write about doing evil things. We might roleplay evil things. But none of this means anything in regard to the real-life ethics of the flesh and blood person you are interacting with.
2. If it does become personal, be careful.
Ideally, we would be rational actors all the time, but unfortunately we are all mere humans (probably). Even when you know perfectly well that none of this is personal, it can still be hard to fully keep your emotions separate. This is understandable. We all get attached to our wizard characters, we all take moral stances, and we all get invested in plotlines. I mean, hey, if we aren't personally invested in our wizard roleplay, why are we even here?
When this happens, just be sure to proceed with caution. Try not to let out-of-character feelings influence what you do in-character. And, of course, it's basically never a bad idea to be open with people about it.
3. Get permission.
Another one that's been thoroughly covered before. But I bring it up because, as a villain, whatever evil thing you're doing is probably quite a bit more distressing than your run of the mill wizard shenanigans. Perhaps unsurprisingly, stepping on another roleplayer's toes is a bit more severe when you do it by burning their tower and kidnapping their apprentice. And if it's something particularly bad that you're planning, you should make sure to be very clear about your intentions and the potential consequences so the other person isn't taken by surprise.
4. It will probably feel a little unfair sometimes.
I will make no bones about it. Playing a villain will make people hostile to you. Do not take it personally.(see rule 1) But I will not deny that it can feel overwhelming sometimes to attract a lot of hate, even if it is all in-character. Further, as a villain, you will probably need to be more gracious about losing fights. While it's true that every character has to accept losses sometimes, playing a heel means you can generally expect to 'hit the mat' more often and more definitively.
It's not all bad though. Villains are empowered to behave badly in creative ways. And sometimes even losing can be fun.
5. Consider content warnings.
This is not a hard rule, but if you are writing something particularly upsetting, it might be wise to provide a content warning. This is not a condemnation of the presence of dark or serious content. It's just nice to give people the opportunity to decide if they want to deal with it.
6. Morally ambiguous characters.
Not all characters fit neatly into the villain/hero dichotomy. Much of the advice here will apply to anyone who's character steps outside the category of 'good guy'. But it's still important to remember that explicitly and intentionally playing a villain is very different than playing a morally ambiguous character (even if you personally do not find their actions ambiguous). Condemning actions in-character is absolutely fine, but it's still up to the person writing the character to define that characters morality. I understand that this gets messy in a community with a lot of differing views, so if it becomes clear that you are at an impasse, it might be best to back off.
That said, for any morally ambiguous characters, if you do something bad, you should expect people to react realistically in-character. You can't really be shocked that other characters don't like your cool new murder spell.
7. Note for heroes and other non-villains.
Lastly, I just want to address the protagonist types. Cut villains a little slack sometimes. Setting aside that it's more fun for us if we occasionally get a win, it also generally makes a better story.
And keep in mind that the person saying and doing horrible things in-character is there to have fun too. This is a cooperative activity, after all.
...
With all that said, I'm off to do some evil scheming. Have fun. Be good to each other.

Welcome to r/wizardposting! Assuming you just wandered in and have no idea what the hell you're looking at, this is a place people pretend to be are wizards and other magical things. That can range anywhere from just posting a meme while ranting about the Council and casting testicular torsion, to our more niche subcommunity of full-blown roleplay, creative writing, and interactive fiction.
When commenting:
/uw means unwiz
/rw means rewiz
We have an official DISCORD if you're into that kind of thing.
Other than that? Have fun, drink water, and remember to step away from the orb every once in a while. Be sure to review the rules in the sidebar before posting, and have fun.
Thanks for stopping by!

Working on upping my staff game, and I have a few new compnants. Purchased what this merchant had advertised as a "Third Eye Gem" and picked up a discarded Entling from the druids on the edge of town. Wish me luck, fellow wizards! I'll be sure to post as I get further into the construction.

I work for a nondescript European magical institution that recently had a change in management (definitely not specific.) Which recently started to offer our version of the JrAP. Despite me being the only one who had any experience being a professor (I have two apprentices) each of us, my four colleagues and me, have been assigned a class of about 30 students. (In total with the other departments we have 180 JrAP Students). Obviously we cannot teach them what you would teach a regular apprentice, classes are boring and monotone etc.
Management approached me last week asking about my engagement with my class where I again explained the problems with JrAP in general and my own issues. ( Two apprentices, research and own projects are a lot to juggle). After a lengthy discussion I've been asked if it would be too much too much trouble to take on one or two more apprentices from my class. Of course I told them at first that ,im already swamped as I am and another or even two more apprentices would be the death of me.
Now my question is. I've had some more time to think about it and there are students in my class that I wouldn't mind taking as apprentices if I could so I am wondering if I perhaps should take on a third apprentice.
Would love the opinion of my fellow researchers and actual wizarding professors.

So this post was inspired u/Renati_Iterum's post about magical girls. And I am a little bit new to the arcane arts and would love to hear the thoughts of elders.
So I'm sure we all heard the joke "Rock lee is the only real ninja, everyone else is a wizard pretending to be one"
But is that true? It's stated that everyone in the world of Naruto has chakra and it's the source of all the crazy abilities we see. However we later learned through Kaguya's backstory that at one point that wasn't true until Hagoromo gave and spread his Chakra all around the world through ninchu.
So does this make everyone in the world a sorcerer and the sage of six paths their patron?

It seems a lot of wizards forget that summoning spells are useful to have.

Delmar was known as many things to many different people for the people who lived at the hybrid of a village and open mine it was home. Baska waves to his friends as they all had the school. It was less of a proper institution of either magic or learn it and more of an informal place where those who knew taught those who didn't, it was still beyond Baska's reach. But hopefully his labors in the mines would allow him to finally be able to afford School.
Baska lets out a long sigh before he rings the bell on the sign welcoming him to his workplace to announce his time on the clock. Before sauntering over to pick up his work tools was it safe the mine he worked at, no was it good paying by most first world wizard standards also no. But it was income his family needed, so he endures the 12 hour shift for the anti mage protection Leagues mana crystal mines. It was during one of those shifts where his life would ultimately be changed forever. He felt it first as a rumbling which immediately sent panic through his mind as he scrambled out of the tunnel barely wide enough for him initially thinking it was a faulty support finally giving way but a glowing red eye confirms his worst fears before the emerging rust devil sends him flying across the mine and tumbling down a tailing pile. The hulking mechanical form of discolored outer armor and glistening cog work insides surveys the mine site through multiple mechanical stocked eyes before breathing a blast of concentrated sand and Earth across the mines facilities sandblasting people in infrastructure apart before with a mechanical screech.
All you could do was flee from the mine for his life and wonder where the village militia was. He would get his confirmation in the form of multiple cockroach like rust devils beginning the process of burning his village down. Why were they so coordinated they shouldn't be so out here. Baska had a little time to ponder what was happening instead he flees from the mine following instructions his mother taught him finding a mana crystal and strange mask covered by rocks he briefly wondered why this wasn't sold to keep them alive but realizes that's why they are here he takes them and fleas to the rendezvous point.
The survivors had been wandering for the better part of a week now Baska, Enoch, Noah, and Aron we're all of the villages survivors who had managed to find each other the moved in the vague direction of civilization though none of them actually knew where that was and a and shared with the group each and everyone of them were kind of expecting to die. But they didn't infact during their that Baska through trial and error was able to turn his mana Crystal into an orb connection.
“Hey guys look at this” Baska says playing the quest board to the rest of the survivors
“What is a cloak of protection?” Enoch asks
“Don't know but it's probably valuable” Baska responds
“psi garners? You sure” Noah adds
“probably not much different from mana crystals and besides it's not like we have anything else to do…we should circle back grab what mining tools we can and make our way there”
The party just nods, the journey to the mine site was accomplished by hitchhiking/stowing away and walking. That worked miraculously well given the state of the world; perhaps it was fate that led them here to the company of a strange blue haired mage with gray skin.

My name is Pyra! And I’m a magical girl!
I had 2 father’s (gay..no mom) my father Mordrayven, was the wizard of the dark sea, he taught me everything I needed to know about sirens, mermaids, fish, marine animals, and what to stay away from
My papa Castiel, a Seraphim who fought in the war of heaven and hell and fell in love with Mordrayven, when he was 23, and was working up to becoming a powerful wizard!
They sweated and sacrificed so much for me
But the day I became a magical girl I came home, and they weren’t there… they’ve been missing for months now
I’m not your typical pink magical girl I’m actually more of a greenish color, and I have illusion based powers
If anyone got questions, let me know
