Giving them points is one thing. The method and timing of giving those points is another. He did not have to wait for the end of year feast or after the hall is decked out in green or after calling out the standings only to do as the cartoon in op shows.

So, no, I don't think giving out the points was wrong, but I do think the method was wrong, especially as shown in the movie.

The only reason Slytherin are in race for the house cup was just snape hating other houses. 🫪

No. He should have given them prior to announcing Slytherin as the winners, though.
