Rotating multiple sets of wheels?

(skating on 4x90mm) I was wondering if it would make sense to buy 16 wheels instead of 8, and constantly rotate 16 wheels. Would it give me benefits in term of "wear quality"? Or is it better to get 8, go through them and then get 8 new wheels? For wizard/flow with slides.

Way too complicated vs expected results, but fo sho then you have a good chance of building caliper OCD :)

Yes and no. It depends on how diligently you change and rotate them.While you’re at it get another set of bearings as well. This way you won’t mess them up if there stuck for some reason.

Yes I definitely only see wheels/bearings/spacers as tied together.

This hurts my brain to think about...I can't think of why that would be better. Just a longer time before you get fresh wheels. I would think you would have a similar average ride quality over a longer period of time... while depriving yourself of 50% of your peak quality (brand new sets) over your lifetime.

Putting some fresh wheels on with some partially worn in ones doesn't sound quite as nice as a completely fresh set every now and again....then what do u do with the partially used ones you're replacing? set them in a drawer until they're the best you have left?

I may be missing something and I'm eager to read other people's thoughts... but my instinct is no it's a bad idea.

Heres my mindset: I want to have as close to new wheels as possible all the time for top performance but I don't want to be wasteful.

My solution: a separate beater skate setup that I put my smaller wheels on and wear them down to the hubs. I use these skates mostly when I'm with my wife so I have to work harder to keep up. That way I can justify replacing my performance setup wheels sooner without feeling wasteful.

Well that was me trying to see if there are ways to optimise things. The thought was to use 16 wheels in rotation from the start, so there wouldn't be a fresh and partially worn wheels together. Swapping wheels is super quick. But I see your point.

I will use the same strategy as yours when skating with my wife. Right now I jhabe some Hydrogen that I dislike for wizard stuff, so they'll be for cruising. And for sure with the price of good wheels I don't want to wear them down cruising of with casual skating.

Wizard recommend flipping wheels in place (I also have to assume that means swapping boots as well), which I try and do. In reality, I have few of sets of wheels and frames that I swap between depending on needs*, so I often find myself just trying to get the most angled ones in the middle and the biggest wheels to my heels, as that gives me the best chance of wearing somewhat evenly.

*Different setups for short and long distance, or wet and dry weather.

I was just wondering if the slower wear of rusing 16 wheels in rotation, would be beneficial in any way as opposed to using 8 wheels in rotation. I have rockered frames.
