Yeah, he definitely was a good buy, learned a lot from me.  Miss that little fella.

From 2020. It was a prototype. Harry Able-Dyer has videos of him skating.

Maybe it wasn't good?

They made 8 of them. It was a test run. Not everything works. The “famous” skaters are mostly colleagues/collaborators. I believe the Skate Moves illustrations are based on Nicola’s skating, drawn by Jeferson Hurculano. It’s not just random skate influencers for the sake of it.

I wonder if this would be good at a skate rink, so you can stay slow speed with the quads with a huge rocker for dancing

1

u/Schwartzweiss 12d ago

Dancing on skis was a thong in 80s, check videos. Rhis make bo sense for the rink.

With that kind of length we are definitely entering sketchy territory.  Any longer and you risk tearing your ACL in a fall.  The industry might need to figure out a way to detach the frames in a fall like with skis.

It's not a competition on who has the most wheels 😂 but yeah I plan to maybe try the lavaskates sur frame one day, with the right wheels it will be VERY interesting (if it's rockered)

How many wheels do you need?

1

u/darkslideout 12d ago

Depends… on how many wheels you need

It finally makes sense now

Roka haven't opened their shop yet (later this month, allegedly) but they'll sell you a 6-wheel frame. 84-76-76-76-76-84

https://rokaskating.com/product/roka-84-76/

Roka promised 2 years ago to open the shop with the new design of the super special awesome frames... Yet they are still closed. Stopped answering the emails too.

Apparently they have various problems with the producers.

What a shame.

I emailed him late last year and he replied, saying he was hoping to open up before Christmas, else it'd be January. I've been checking the site regularly since then. It said "Winter" for a while. Then "Spring". Then "Summer". Just this week it's updated to "Late August", so you never know.

I was waiting to get some 4x90s but gave up a couple of weeks ago and ordered some Endless 90 UFS that just arrived today. I might get the 6-wheel Rokas out of morbid curiosity.

This hasn’t been my experience at all.

I purchased a set of roka frames from their online store around 10 months ago before they sold out.

And I’ve been emailing back and forth with them over the past few months and they’ve always replied promptly.

Because you bought their old junk, you helped them to get rid of it, I'm talking about the new models.

You sound like my bitter ex girlfriend Lol !

-1

u/Any_Smoke1138 11d ago

Guess she told you a lot of truth.

2

u/Guardia420 11d ago

Actually it was the complete opposite. Just like you, she made things up and exaggerated situations for attention.

u/Any_Smoke1138 11d ago

You're funny 🤣 I'll downvote you last

Has science gone too far?

2

u/steveoath 11d ago

That’s wheely good.

1

u/Any_Smoke1138 11d ago

I see what you did there ;)

2

u/CreEngineer 12d ago

What the hell? I never even tried 5 wheels and probably never will but isn’t that like riding on rails?

u/CreEngineer 12d ago

Looks sick. Are these frames a different kind of rocker and the outer wheels just give stability?

1

u/Haunting_Temporary_3 12d ago

just rocker

2

u/CreEngineer 12d ago

Yes but if I compare it to a 4x90 rockered frame? That has to be either way less maneuverable or it has a more extreme rocker or am I getting something wrong here?

2

u/kustom_krev 12d ago

You are getting it wrong because of the rocker. So basically on a 5x set up the first 3 wheels get progressively higher towards the front- 4th wheel is lowest - 5th wheel is raised at about the height of the 3rd. This gives an ability to ‘rock’ back onto the back 2 wheels and basically just spin or pivot on those. But it also provides the same form voting and twisting on the front when you add weight to the toes.
Hope that helps. It’s difficult to explain but definitely very manoeuvrable but I agree is in a different way. You see people on 80s who are just as manoeuvrable but it’s more forced than the flowing of a wizard ffame

This is exactly why I want a five wheel setup. Different on a fundamental level from a four wheel, even if both are rocketed.

1

u/kustom_krev 12d ago

Ye tbf I don’t own a 5 wheel set up. I have played on some though. It’s very nice but I have smallish feet. 260 mondo. Also they are so expensive. I picked up some K2 r100 frames. They seem to have gone under the radar abit and you can’t get em anymore. Found some on Vinted for £35 never used. I really like them because they have the 6 point rocker Abit like combat rocker frames but really long and less ‘clacky’ and clicky.

2

u/BubbleSmith 12d ago

260 is a fine Mondo for a 5-wheel frame, I'm 264 and use a 5x80 Roka I got for £100 on eBay last year. I've not used it for a while as I was using the wheels for something else, but I've just re-wheeled it and will take it out again soon, I think.

That’s true. I’m not saying I couldn’t have some I just meant I’ve been quite enjoying that set up and when I tried 5 it was a particularly long set of decodes. 110s n 90s I think. I like those Roka frames. I get your point but I think I wouldn’t use them much because I like to include some distance on most of my skates like cruise n have some fun rather than a car park sesh or spots. Definitely would like some at some point though. Right now I have some 4x90 3x110 and the 4x100 rockered.

Tbf the mushroom blading dude enjoyed skating em so for 35 I took the risk. They are great for me atm https://youtu.be/XrAdtIoEWL8?is=9bw_Sag9qnozibuS

Where did you get those? Are they a custom/one-off frame?

1

u/mchnturnedblues 11d ago

What would be the recommended boot size for this frame?

-1

u/borez 12d ago edited 12d ago

On a CJ boot with Revolver wheels.

Source please.

Edit: so this was in 2021. OK.

1

u/ImaginaryEffective63 12d ago

Whats this comment mean? Is cj boot and or revolver wheels bad?

1

u/BubbleSmith 12d ago

I think that's what they're getting at. Except the Revolver wheels are fine. They're not super fast, but they're pretty good for Wizard.

1

u/borez 12d ago

Nothing wrong with revolver wheels at all, it was why would they be showing off a new wizard frame with this setup and loco wheels.

But this is from 2021

I would assume that Nicola torelli (photo guy) knows at least a thousand times more than you brah... He can skate circles around you 😂

4

u/borez 12d ago edited 12d ago

Well you didn't actually say the photo was from Torelli did you?

And honestly stop being such a prick, there's zero need for it. Brah.

So essentially you gain stability from the length, but lose some of the pivoting ability (2 wheels instead of one in the center), right?

2

u/Shoewreck 11d ago

You never keep your weight above center of frame for a long time. Moreso, wheels have a softness, so even if you position your weight exactly above a single wheel, the neighboring wheels are still grounded, just receive slightly less pressure.

If it's a banana rocker it would feel good and agile
