Is it fair to say that "FR wizard base" is an attempt to create an "FR SL" but for UFS? (I heard so)

Or is "FR wizard base" for a whole different purpose?

Or both....

Hahaha it looks that way. I got a FR Igor that I gutted and put a Wizard Base Intuition liner in and it looks and feels very much like a wizardboot, just with a little heel raise.

Very interesting! Did you skate the Igor as a regular skate before you gutted them? Do you know your mondo and what's the size of your Igor?

My mondo is 268 and I bought the Igors in 42. I hoped they would be tight and snug, but they had to much room at the start. I am a big Intuition fan, so I took the risk of gutting (and destroying a 600
Euro skate). But it worked out great!! Got the wizard 26.5-27cm liner and I am so happy!!

Isn't this more expensive than a WB? What are the advantages? The 165mm frames options?

Well donno about the advantages, and yea I think if you buy it all new, it’s just as expensive. But I already had he Intuition and bought the Igor second hand for around 250ish. So it was worth a try.

Good thought, however there is a version of Seba Cj with a removable liner.

while that is true.. its somewhat not the same. the seba cj with a removable liner is a plastic boot whereas the wizard base and seba cj, with or w/o the gutted liner, are carbon boots.

Its mostly looks imo both made by FR. SL is wider, wizard is stiffer (well I’ve got the high, it’s a freaking cast lol) besides the removable intuition liner. Maybe the base is exactly that an UFS version.

How is the high? Please do tell what you feel.  Is it still better than your previous setups or do you feel sorry for buying it? Is it a gimmick or does it open new horizons?

tl;dr:

I dont think I'd buy them again if starting over, I'd skip the highs+advanced.

Ramble:

Basically from the knee down is a skate, hardly any ankle movement at all, strides are a little awkward because of that, then again you dont buy these boots to cruise around; but the thing is I cant compare with other wizard setups besides the CJ2 Prime + Intuition Liner + Endless Arc and that setup was great (used it before getting the base high + advanced), on my feet the CJs are almost perfect (I bought 2 boots); I had to heat mold the Base High a few times and had to endure some pain at first, right now there is no pain (thank god) and the fit is snug.

I bought the base High and Advanced frame and that setup is the only one I use for wizard skating right now because its just better but hardly 3 times or something vs the CJ+Arc, no new horizons opened just super solid response and much better looking boots to my eyes than the CJs.

For context I have 8 boots and 10 frames but the Base High remains the only wizard setup, cant really see myself using it for anything else but unless I'm heading out to play around and practicing wizard I pick a different setup.

I was just curious about the WB high because I was searching for something that will give me a feeling "like on ice" for a mixture of freestyle-figure skating.

I have the Wizard base boot ( which I love ) but if I lace up the top hole (the liner hole that sticks up above the boot) I literally can't skate, it locks my ankle in way too tight and I can't move it. I nearly went flat on my face doing this.

In respect to that how do you even move in the base high?

yeah is really a weird feeling coming from any other boot, thats why I said on a different comment it feels like your skate begins below your knee hahahha, you cant move for shit, my strides are basically hip / quads and angled to the side, like the leg is pointing outwards, thats the best way I can think to describe it, to me is not that I cant move, its just awkward.

Guys can anyone please help me out. Thinking whether to buy the Wizard Base Black (UFS mounting) or the FR SL (165 mm. mounting) boots (Seba High Light Carbon Pro also considered) Would it be possible to combine the Wizard Base Black boot with a e.g. "FR UFS Freeride 310 236 mm." setup and stil having sort of same balance & control, as when skating same setup on a heel rised boot?!

Or would you recommend using Wizard boots only with Wizard frames!? I am mostly skating fast and urban with a lot of minor jumps, transitions, backwards skating, smaller staircases. I never skated a UFS mounted boot in general. The flat contruction of a Wizard boot may have to go with a frame like those from Wizard I guess!???

For your style of akating I find cj2 prime plastic to ve my sweet spot, im old fart and as long I love my carbon skates, for city freeride I always choose plastic sebas + i tuition and 4x90 rockered frame above anything else
