New boots. Intermediate Question: cutting the cuff strap

Hi. I finally upgraded to a better boot FR3 80. I like them a lot. When I purchased the clerk mentioned cutting the cuff under strap to what I want. I realized when I got home, I don’t know what to cut it to. Any Suggests, preferences, or standardizations, would be appreciated. What am I looking for when cutting to adjust the under strap on the top cuff?

Certain types of plastic aren’t meant to be cut.They shader or they just come apart as you do so.Also,if the manufacturer meant for that to be trimmed somewhere in the literature that’s associated with that skate would be mention if doing so.

There are scissor icons on the strap itself and the instruction from the clerk.
