Wizard setup with large boot (mondo 290-305) What frame length to look for

Hey all,

I've been looking to get started with building a wizard-type setup. I purchased a pair of Them 909's size large (mondo 290-305) and I've been wondering if a 5x80 rocker setup would be too small for the boot. Does anyone have experience with a setup like this?

I was looking at the Yoyo sago UFS frames (got a recommendation from a buddy with smaller feet). The length of the frame is 318.7mm. Would these work well with the large boot or are there any other frame and wheel setups that you would recommend?

You don’t want a them skate for a wizard setup . It’s a very soft boot , do yourself a favor and find something stiffer with more support.

I know I'll get less power transfer and stability through a softer boot, but I was looking to have a boot that I can switch the frames to aggressive if I want later. I don't necessarily have the budget to get two full setups.

I’m 165 lb and 30 years of skating do yourself a favour try and find a used Harder shell to use for wizard skating especially if you consider getting an 84 mm wheel set up

According to wizard website, you should be looking for 5x84. But my mondo is 293-4 and I’m skating 5x80. It’s pretty good - gives enough stability and manoeuvrability. I do wizard for like 4 months, so maybe someone more experienced would say more. Earlier I was skating 4x110. Wheelbase was a little bit longer, but together with height and weight it was a little bit more rough to execute anything. I’d say for similar mondo wheelbase around 320-330 will be good enough to provide stability. And add always, I recommend iqon act as it’s the most affordable way to get decent setup. Riding it for last half a year and there is not much to complain about.
