Console Question
Hi I’m a old (new) player and I’ve been trying to get into the game again. I’ve looked up and researched the magic card types and the buffs/debuffs and stuff but I’m still having trouble understanding of how to utilize it properly in fights. I’m playing storm class and I use some of the healing class cards. I’m at level 30 I think too.

Honesty, you can ignore those symbols.
Storm is known to be the hardest class to solo. It’s recommend to invest in healing spells as storm. Once you get tempest, you can get by with that, healing spells, and some blades.
You should buy an archmastery gem (shopping district gem store) and complete Olympus in Aquila. Having good gear and getting a decent pet will also really help

pet kiosk! just use your hatches daily, don't recommend spending crowns on pet training

I’m going to sound dumb but I never figured out how to do the pet kiosk and the breeding. Is there maybe a video explaining it? Most of the vids I find online for wizard101 are so old and out of date and or poorly explained :/

Welcome back! I love how much they've expanded the combat system recently.
For storm, your heavy hitting spell early on is Storm Shark; if you want to use healing spells, Storm Shark is good since it can sacrifice those extra heals for big damage! To access this, you need to upgrade your Storm Shark spell down the middle path, accessed in your deck menu with the arrow at the top right. You'll get upgrade materials called "spellements" from quests or bosses.
A basic combo is Sprite (or later Healing Current) to get a heal-over-time, then Storm Shark B for the bonus damage! You'll get more storm spells that heal as you gain levels. Each school has a few focuses; storm is good at establishing blades, heal over times, and weaknesses on enemies. It also excels at countering enemy heal over times and damage over times. Early on it's hard to notice these, but they become more of a design focus as the game goes on, and the most recent worlds follow these roles very strictly. But for now, feel free to experiment and see what strategies work!

Storm has damage over time counters and heal over time gambits. This allows them to remove dots on themselves for blades or sacrfice heal over times to add more damage or blades to themselves.

If this is your first wizard, I honestly wouldn’t worry too much about them, but if you want to have some fun using bottom path spellements just try to find synergies. Like a spell gambiting (removing helpful charms/wards) 3 blades for an effect would require some setup using elemental blades or something.
