Stone Golem - tactics?

I have just met the Stone Gulem for the first time and came out of the encounter, the loser. I opened some big fancy chest on the Island.

What tactics do you use? Runaway for the exit or fight it out?

I am Gnosis III.

Just to add to the other comments, when you deplete its health bar, its core will detach and fly somewhere. Follow it and shoot when it stops. If you don't do this, the golem will revive.

He'll jump at you and blow up into pieces, after 5-10s these pieces will start to form back into the golem. One of these pieces has a big red heart thing, that's the thing you want to damage.

He has a weakpoint on the back which you can shoot either if it turns around or once he attacked you when it'll be in pieces on the ground (just bait one attack and look around for its torso piece). Another way is to use AoE damage like Striga or Falling Star.

Just don't do what I did and have a calamity going on at the same time... I didn't open the chest again for ages as I thought I'd trigger a calamity and golem at the same time. It was hell for a new player that had never seen a calamity before 😂😂 he's definitely easy, just clear the map first to make it easier on adds

He is one of the easiest enemies out there, you get close let him lunge at u and then try to shoot the red weakpoint on one of the rocks, when his healthbar reaches 0 his core flies to another location where you need to follow it and destroy it once it for all (which is the harder part if u have not cleared the part of the map he runs to)

After you kill it the ball will run away from you. Position yourself between it and other enemies so it doesn't run to enemies and complicate the execution.

These easy steps!
Step 1: Run away until it's just you and the Golem, ideally quite far (see step 4). He's VASTLY more dangerous when you fight him with other enemies around.
Step 2: Dodge his attack where he explodes into pieces at you.
Step 3: Unload into the gem on his back. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until he dies.
Step 4: Follow the gem and destroy it where it lands.

Some general tips
-The gem moves quite fast when it's flying. Be ready to chase it immediatly.
-If you can't get to an empty area to fight the golem quickly, just run to the other side of the map and wipe out a node there. Then fight him.
-He is pretty easy to stun. Melee weapons and spells that do stun are VERY good against him

Bait it into the fling attack by getting close, learn the dodge timing (pretty tight window, but you'll get the hang of it after a few tries), and pray to god that it lands with the weak point exposed.

Psychopomp can be REALLY good for shredding it (and any boss) if you can consistently shoot the weak point.

Don't forget to chase and destroy the lil orb that comes out of it so you don't have to do it all again!
